Many of these rituals, such as the Star Ruby, and Lesser Banishing of the Pentagram also have a cosmological element. But how does this setting of space relate to the individual who fills this space. In many banishings there is an implicit or explicit centre, such as the casting of the caim in traditional witchcraft, when the stang is placed at the centre of the circle as the bile or world tree. The term casting a caim comes from Celtic Christianity in which Celtic Christians created space with a circle at which they formed the centre. The physical casting of a circle and the reciting of the caim was also a gesture of protection. An example of a Caim verse is as follows:

"Circle Me Lord"Keep protection near"And danger afar"

"Circle me Lord"Keep hope within"And doubt without"

"Circle me Lord"Keep light near"and Darkness afar"

"Circle me lord"Keep peace within"Keep Evil Without"

"May you be a bright flame before me,"May you be a guiding star above me,"May you be a smooth path below me,"And a loving Guide behind me,"Today, tonight and forever."

I used to speak a variation of this when I worked and lived with children with intellectual disabilities, and these words were spoken in a circle before bed. To consciously stop and use such an affirmation is quite something in strengthening a sense of centre. The term caim means enclosing or encasing.Another such affirmation is found in the lorica of St. Patrick. Lorica is a latin word meaning breastplate (as in armour). A rendering of the breastplate is as follows:

"I arise today"Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,"Through belief in the Threeness,"Through confession of the Oneness"of the Creator of creation."

"I arise today"Through the strength of Christ's birth with His baptism,"Through the strength of His crucifixion with His burial,"Through the strength of His resurrection with His ascension,"Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom."

"I arise today"Through the strength of the love of cherubim,"In the obedience of angels,"In the service of archangels,"In the hope of resurrection to meet with reward,"In the prayers of patriarchs,"In the predictions of prophets,"In the preaching of apostles,"In the faith of confessors,"In the innocence of holy virgins,"In the deeds of righteous men."

"I arise today, through"The strength of heaven,"The light of the sun,"The radiance of the moon,"The splendor of fire,"The speed of lightning,"The swiftness of wind,"The depth of the sea,"The stability of the earth,"The firmness of rock."

"I arise today, through"God's strength to pilot me,"God's might to uphold me,"God's wisdom to guide me,"God's eye to look before me,"God's ear to hear me,"God's word to speak for me,"God's hand to guard me,"God's shield to protect me,"God's host to save me"From snares of devils,"From temptation of vices,"From everyone who shall wish me ill,"afar and near."

"I summon today"All these powers between me and those evils,"Against every cruel and merciless power"that may oppose my body and soul,"Against incantations of false prophets,"Against black laws of pagandom,"Against false laws of heretics,"Against craft of idolatry,"Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,"Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul;"Christ to shield me today"Against poison, against burning,"Against drowning, against wounding,"So that there may come to me an abundance of reward."

"Christ with me,"Christ before me,"Christ behind me,"Christ in me,"Christ beneath me,"Christ above me,"Christ on my right,"Christ on my left,"Christ when I lie down,"Christ when I sit down,"Christ when I arise,"Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,"Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,"Christ in every eye that sees me,"Christ in every ear that hears me."

"I arise today"Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,"Through belief in the Threeness,"Through confession of the Oneness"of the Creator of creation."

The above caim affirms space through the Christian God, and St. Patrick's lorica describes a truly Celtic Christianity, in which both the Gods and the land are acknowledged. In many ways the lorica is also reminiscent of something else, being the song of Amergin.

"I am a wind on the sea,"I am a wave of the ocean,"I am the roar of the sea,"I am a bull of seven battles,"I am a hawk on the cliff,"I am a teardrop of sunlight,"I am a gentle herb,"I am a boar enraged,"I am a salmon in a pool,"I am a lake in a plain,"I am the vigour of man"I am the meaning of poetry,"I am a spear on the attack (pouring forth combat),"I am the god who fires your mind."

"Who lights the mountain's stony places?"Who announces the ages of the moon?"Who tells the place where the sun will set?"Who calls the cattle from the Sea King's house?"On whom do the cattle of the Sea King smile?"

"Which troop, which god takes a knife through gangrene?"Penalties in a spear - enchantments of wind?"

Aspects of this song of Amergin can also be found in the Wesh Taleisin materials. In a postmodern, and mostly post Christian age words calling upon God and deity as the ultimate directing forces seem almost empty. I do not arise in the strength of God, but in my own strength. Nietzsche has declared that God is dead and Sartre has pointed to the fact that in an age when old meanings are dead, that we must create meaning. I believe in myself, in my self-determinism and in the law of Thelema as recognising these. Within the Irish Order Of Thelema there has been an attempt to address the need for a new expression of these old caims and loricas, appropriate to the time and outlook of the age we live in, while still drawing on and respecting these innovations as naturally evolving out of streams of historical practice. The Order has thus devised a breastplate of thelema.

THE BREASTPLATE OF THELEMA

"I Arise today in a mighty Strength!"In the refuge of Nuit!"By the light of Hadit"With the strength, force, vigour of Ra Hoor Khuit!"

"I Arise today"Through the rite of Cath, to Freedom in Discipline!"Through the rite of Fis, to purity of purpose!"Through the rite of Blath, to prosperity in growth!"Through the rite of Seis, to the ordered harmony of one with all!"Through the rite of Mide, to secret source of the sacred Flame!"

"I Arise today, individual and eternal!"In the balance of elements, in the harmony of spheres."In the Strength of the New Law, and love under will."I Arise today in Light, in Life, in Love, in Liberty!"

"I Arise today through the strength of Heaven,"The Light of Sun, Brilliance of Moon,"Speed of Lightening, Splendour of Fire,"Swiftness of Wind, Depth of Sea"Stability of Earth, Firmness of Rock"

"I Arise today against Bonds of Ignorance!"Against falsehood and restriction!"Against Fear and weakness, inaction and apathy!"I Arise today against interference or interruption!"Against deceits of Slave Gods!"Against Unjust Law of Old time past!"Against every superstitious and tyrannical Power"that may oppose the Welfare of the Human Race!"

"I Arise today"With my own strength to pilot me"my own might to uphold me"my own wisdom to guide me"my own eyes to look before me"my own ears to hear for me"my own word manifest within me"my own path before me"Unto the fulfillment of will!"

"The Light of Hadit within me,"The Blue and Gold of Nuit around me"The Red Flame of Ra Hoor before me"True Brethren on all sides of me"True courage within me"Sacred ground beneath me"One star above me"Harmony on my right"Battle on my left"Prosperity before me"Knowledge behind me"Power in height"Power in breadth"Power in Depth"

"Thelema in the Heart of everyone who thinks of me"In the mouth of everyone who speaks of me"In the eye of everyone who sees me"In the ear of everyone who hears me"

"I Arise today in a mighty Strength!"In the refuge of Nuit!"By the light of Hadit"With the strength, force, vigour of Ra Hoor Khuit!"

This is a very special piece for me as it makes reference to both the Gods (Gods of the self as Nuit, Hadit and Ra Hoor Khuit) and to the land through the provincial qualities of the island. This affirmation through the powers of the provinces also charts the journey of the initiate of the elemental cycle within the Order. It also makes reference to 'arising against' tyrannical and limiting forces, as a flip side to having freedom is opposing forces that will thwart that right.I hope the evolution towards this modern lorica, which by all means can be used as a fortifying affirmation, has been of some interest to my readers. One thing which leads me to write this was a comment in a book I recently read about the obsession with banishing to the extent that it almost cancels out invocatory work with fortifying forces. Perhaps, like the caims and loricas of old, such a piece could serve to protect and fortify, invoking the energies of the aeon and the island.I finish with a recitation of the Breastplate

"Love is the law, love under will"
Dr. Martin Luther KingI have a vision of a Golden Dawn unfettered by the animosities of the past - A future where the Golden Dawn is best known for the quality of its teachings, rather than disparagement of its orders, their members, and their leaders.

Sadly, some in our community only write on their websites and blogs "No flame wars or disparaging of others will ever be tolerated," yet nonetheless continue to behave as antagonists. Clearly, such leaders have lost their way.

Others have become entrenched in a quagmire of prejudice against the Fratres, Sorores, and leaders of the Alpha Omega, although they have never met any of us in person.

Others disparage our order and its leaders because, despite lofty words and empty rhetoric, they do not yet fully embrace diversity in the Golden Dawn community. Such leaders remain stuck in a Highlander mentality rooted in the mistaken belief that "There can be only one!"

Let us endeavor to liberate the Golden Dawn from the conflicts and animosities of the past, and to create instead a future congruent with our highest, most spiritual aspirations.

I have a vision of a Golden Dawn where all Fratres and Sorores, solitaries or initiates, of any order or any temple can sit down together at the table of brother and sister hood - And share in the new magic and teachings coming from the Secret Chiefs.

Let us remain mindful that there are no "enemies" in our community, only people with different visions of the future. Let us not descend into name calling and personal attacks on the Internet. It is, after all, our visions of the future that collide - and not our persons.

Let us not allow peace in the Golden Dawn community to be derailed by those who hate us, call us names and disparage our order, its members, and its leaders on the Internet.

May we instead find strength in our diversity - and true community in the plurality of our visions.

I see the Golden Dawn not as a competition between rivals, but as a place where sincere seekers can find enlightenment.

I see the Golden Dawn as a school of energetic evolution - bringing spiritual technology from the past into a new Millennium.

Today, many challenges still remain before us. There are old animosities and grudges yet to overcome - And fears to conquer.

But I believe in the Golden Dawn. This is a list of 10 of the most famous and popular secret societies or alleged secret societies.

1. Skull and Bones

Members of the Skull and Bones (George Bush is left of the clock) [1947]

The Order of Skull and Bones, a Yale University society, was originally known as the Brotherhood of Death. It is one of the oldest student secret societies in the United States. It was founded in 1832 and membership is open to an elite few. The society uses masonic inspired rituals to this day. Members meet every Thursday and Sunday of each week in a building they call the "Tomb".

According to Judy Schiff, Chief Archivist at the Yale University Library, the names of the members were not kept secret until the 1970s, but the rituals always have been. Both of the Bush presidents were members of the society while studying at Yale, and a number of other members have gone on to great fame and fortune.

The society is surrounded by conspiracy theories; the most popular of which is probably the idea that the CIA was built on members from the group. The CIA released a statement in 2007 (coinciding with the popularity of the film The Good Shepherd) in which it denied that the group was an incubator for the CIA.

2. Freemasons

Freemasons Annual Meeting [1992]

The Grand Masonic Lodge was created in 1717 when four small groups of lodges joined together. Membership levels were initially first and second degree, but in the 1750s this was expanded to create the third degree which caused a split in the group. When a person reaches the third degree, they are called a Master Mason.

Masons conduct their regular meetings in a ritualized style. This includes many references to architectural symbols such as the compass and square. They refer to God as "The Great Architect of the Universe". The three degrees of Masonry are: 1: Entered Apprentice, this makes you a basic member of the group. 2: Fellow Craft, this is an intermediate degree in which you are meant to develop further knowledge of Masonry. 3: Master Mason, this degree is necessary for participating in most masonic activities. Some rites (such as the Scottish rite) list up to 33 degrees of membership.

Masons use signs and handshakes to gain admission to their meetings, as well as to identify themselves to other people who may be Masons. The signs and handshakes often differ from one jurisdiction to another and are often changed or updated. This protects the group from people finding out how to gain admission under false pretenses. Masons also wear stylized clothing based upon the clothing worn by stone masons from the middle ages. The most well known of these is the apron.

In order to become a Mason, you must generally be recommended by a current mason. In some cases you must be recommended three times before you can join. You have to be at least 18 years old and of sound mind. Many religions frown upon membership of the Masons, and the Roman Catholic Church forbids Catholics to join under pain of excommunication.

3. Rosicrucians

Secret Symbols of the Rosicrucians

The Rosicrucian order is generally believed to have been the idea of a group of German protestants in the 1600s when a series of three documents were published: Fama Fraternitatis Rosae Crucis, Confessio Fraternitatis, and The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz anno 1459. The documents were so widely read and influential, that the historian Frances Yeats refers to the 17th century as the Rosicrucian Enlightenment. The first document tells the story of a mysterious alchemist (Christian Rosenkreuz) who travelled to various parts of the world gathering secret knowledge. The second document tells of a secret brotherhood of alchemists who were preparing to change the political and intellectual face of Europe. The third document describes the invitation of Christian Rosenkreuz to attend and assist at the "Chemical" wedding of a King and Queen in a castle of Miracles.

Current members of the Rosicrucian Order claim that its origins are far more ancient than these documents. The authors of the documents seemed to strongly favor Lutheranism and include condemnations of the Catholic Church. Rosicrucianism probably had an influence on Masonry and, in fact, the 18th degree of Scottish Rite Masonry is called the Knight of the Rose Croix (red cross).

There are a large number of Rosicrucian groups today - each claiming to be closely tied to the original. Of the two main divisions, one is a mix of Christianity with Rosicrucian principles, and the other is semi-Masonic. The Masonic type tend to also have degrees of membership.

4. Ordo Templis Orientis

Crowley with OTO Instruments

The OTO (Order of the Temples of the East) is an organization that was originally modeled on Masonry but, under the leadership of the self-styled "Great Beast" Aleister Crowley, it took on the principles of his religious system called Thelema. Thelema is based around a single law: "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law, love is the law, love under the will" [1904]. Membership is based upon degrees of initiation and highly stylized rituals are used. The OTO currently claims over 3,000 members worldwide.

Crowley created a "Mass" for the OTO which is called the Gnostic Mass. Of the "Mass", Crowley wrote:

"I resolved that my Ritual should celebrate the sublimity of the operation of universal forces without introducing disputable metaphysical theories. I would neither make nor imply any statement about nature which would not be endorsed by the most materialistic man of science. On the surface this may sound difficult; but in practice I found it perfectly simple to combine the most rigidly rational conceptions of phenomena with the most exalted and enthusiastic celebration of their sublimity."

The ritual is very stylized and uses virgin priestesses, children, and priests. Many Ancient Egyptian God's are invoked, as well as the Devil, and at one point the priestess performs a naked ritual.

5. Hermetic Order of The Golden Dawn

Golden Dawn Symbolism

The order of the Golden Dawn was created by Dr. William Robert Woodman, William Wynn Westcott, and Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers. All three were Freemasons and members of Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (an organization with ties to Masonry). It is considered by many to be a forerunner of the Ordo Templi Orientis and a majority of modern Occult groups.

The belief system of the Golden Dawn is largely taken from Christian mysticism, Qabalah, Hermeticism, the religion of Ancient Egypt, Freemasonry, Alchemy, Theosophy, Magic, and Renaissance writings. William Yeats, and Aleister Crowly are two of the more famous members of the group.

The fundamental documents of the order are known as the Cipher Documents. These were translated into English using a cipher attributed to Johannes Trithemius. The documents are a series of 60 folios containing magic rituals. The basic structure of many of these rituals appear to originate with Rosicrucianism. There is a great deal of controversy surrounding the origins of these documents.

6. The Knights Templar

Mediaeval Templar's Sword

The Knights Templar (full name: The United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple and of St John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta) is a modern off-shoot of Masonry and does not have a direct tie to the original Knights Templar - a religious military group formed in the 12th century. Members of the Masonic Knights Templar do not claim a direct connection to the medieval group, but merely a borrowing of ideas and symbols.

In order to become a member of this group, you must already be a Christian Master Mason. This organization is a distinct one, and is not just a higher degree of Masonry. Despite Freemasonry's general disclaimer that no one Masonic organization claims a direct heritage to the medieval Knights Templar, certain degrees and orders are obviously patterned after the medieval Order. These are best described as "commemorative orders" or degrees. Nevertheless, in spite of the fraternity's official disclaimers, some Masons, non-Masons, and even anti-Masons insist that certain Masonic rites or degrees originally had direct Templar influence.

7. The Illuminati

The Pyramid, an illuminati symbol

A movement of freethinkers that were the most radical offshoot of The Enlightenment - whose followers were given the name Illuminati (but who called themselves "Perfectibilists") - was founded on May 1, 1776 in Ingolstadt (Upper Bavaria), by Jesuit-taught Adam Weishaupt. This group is now known as the Bavarian Illuminati. While it was not legally allowed to operate, many influential intellectuals and progressive politicians counted themselves as members. Even though there were some known Freemasons in the membership, it was not considered to be endorsed by Masonry. The fact that the Illuminati did not require a belief in a supreme being made them particularly popular amongst atheists. This, and the fact that most members were humanists, is the reason for the widespread belief that the Illuminati wants to overthrow organized religion.

Internal panic over the succession of a new leader, and government attempts to outlaw the group saw to it collapsing entirely in the late 1700s. Despite this, conspiracy theorists such as David Icke and Was Penre, have argued that the Bavarian Illuminati survived, possibly to this day, though very little reliable evidence can be found to support the idea that Weishaupt's group survived into the 19th century. It has even been suggested that the Skull and Bones club is an American branch of the Illuminati.

Many people believe that the Illuminati is still operating and managing the main actions of the governments of the world. It is believed that they wish to create a One World Government based on humanist and atheist principles.

8. The Bilderberg Group

A Bilderberg Meeting

This group is slightly different from the others in that it does not have an official membership. It is the name given to a group of highly influential people who meet ever year in secrecy (and usually with strong military and government sponsored security). The topics discussed are kept secret. The structure of the meetings is that of a conference - usually held in five star hotels around the world. Attendance at the meeting is strictly by invitation only. The first meeting took place in 1954 at the Hotel Bilderberg in the Netherlands.

The original meeting was initiated by several people. Polish emigre and political adviser, Joseph Retinger, concerned about the growth of anti-Americanism in Western Europe, proposed an international conference at which leaders from European countries and the United States would be brought together with the aim of promoting understanding between the cultures of The United States of America and Western Europe.

Although the agenda and list of participants are openly available to the public, it is not clear that such details are disclosed by the group itself. Also, the contents of the meetings are kept secret and attendees pledge not to divulge what was discussed. The group's stated justification for secrecy is that it enables people to speak freely without the need to carefully consider how every word might be interpreted by the mass media.

Needless to say, this group is constantly surrounded by controversy and conspiracy theories.

9. The Priory of Sion

Logo of the Priori of Sion

After the publication of the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, a great deal of interest in the Priory of Sion has been created. Unfortunately for those hoping to find and join the Priory, it is, in fact, fictional. It was a hoax created in 1956 by a pretender to the French Throne, Pierre Plantard. Letters in existence dating from the 1960s written by Plantard, de Cherisey and de S`ede to each other confirm that the three were engaging in an out-and-out confidence trick, describing schemes on how to combat criticisms of their various allegations and how they would make up new allegations to try to keep the whole thing going. Despite this, many people still continue to believe that the Priory exists and functions to this day.

The authors of the well known book, The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, misled by the hoax, stated:

1. The Priory of Sion has a long history starting in AD 1099, and had illustrious Grand Masters including Isaac Newton and Leonardo da Vinci.

2. The order protects certain royal claimants because they believe them to be the literal descendants of Jesus and his alleged wife Mary Magdalene or, at the very least, of king David.

3. The priory seeks the founding of a "Holy European Empire" that would become the next hyperpower and usher in a new world order of peace and prosperity.

10. Opus Dei

Ordination of Opus Dei Priests

Opus Dei is an organization of the Catholic Church that emphasizes the Catholic belief that everyone is called to holiness and that ordinary life is a path to sanctity. The celibate numeraries and numerary assistants live in special centers, while associates are celibate members living in their private homes. The order was founded in Spain in 1928 by Roman Catholic priest Josemar'ia Escriv'a with the approval of Pope Pius XII.

When Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code was published, it claimed that Opus Dei was a secret organization within the Church whose aim was to defeat the Priory of Sion and those who seek to uncover the "truth" about Christianity and the alleged royal bloodline of Christ. Outside of the book, there has been a great deal of controversy over Opus Dei because of the strictness of its religious structure.

The Catholic Church forbids secret societies and membership in them, and Opus Dei investigators have frequently debunked claims that this organization is acting in secrecy to further a sinister agenda

Source: http://mystery4life.blogspot.com

magichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11865414946868025409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4556812725036816318.post-24266809202783472472012-09-24T11:58:00.000-07:002012-10-26T05:34:42.393-07:00Crowley Apocalypse Now Or Maybe Tomorrow

There has been so much buzz these days about the world coming to a complete end, with dispensationists like Harold Camping and others predicting that the apocalypse, as predicted in the last book of the New Testament, called "Revelations" has come to a final and terrible fruition. My friend and blog mate, Ananael Qaa, has been following the latest craze of predictions this year, and after each deadline, nothing has happened. All of the signs were clearly indicative, but the end of world failed to materialize. So I wonder what happened?

True believers would say that the Lord moves in mysterious ways, and the atheists and cynics would say that maybe the terrible God of the Christians just doesn't really exist. Maybe the myths and beliefs are just that, false beliefs based on superstitious ignorance. However, the occultist in me doesn't take sides with the atheists or cynics, instead I think that what is happening is an unfortunate literal interpretation of what is in reality a very allegorical and mysterious prophetic book of the Bible. I have heard it said and found it to be true that if you approach the Bible with a predetermined solution and look into its contents (ignoring all of the scriptural context) for justifications, you will indeed find them. Of course this could be said about any of the sacred scriptures or books of mysteries to be found in any of the religions in the world. A person's perceptions can be ironically mirrored by Holy Scriptures if one digs deep enough or far enough into them, even if those perceptions are completely absurd. Perhaps one could say that the Godhead has a very subtle but quite real sense of humor, and that the joke is on us.

An odd truth is that I myself have found the whole concept of the mythical end of the world to be quite fascinating, and I have realized it in visions and powerful spiritual encounters. However, the difference is that I am not about to go looking for outward signs that the world is going to end suddenly and immediately after my visionary experiences. If you read over Crowley's book "The Vision and the Voice," you will find that kind of mythic theme being repeatably expressed by him. Crowley told individuals that he was the Great Beast of the book of Revelations, but what did he really mean by that? Did the end of the world occur during Crowley's lifetime and we just didn't know about it. Actually, the truth is, yes, indeed, the world ended and then it started anew. It was what Crowley called the birth of the Aeon of Horus, and the mysterious date was in 1904, when the Book of the Law was channeled by Crowley's wife. If you are a Thelemite, then this is an important great truth, to be celebrated during several days in April. So, Crowley was the Great Beast 666, and he caused the world to end through two great and terrible wars, but the world also changed and was reborn. To Thelemites, if the world ends, it is reborn at the same moment, which actually makes a lot more sense. Since that time of the start of the Aeon of Horus, some others have announced the beginning of other Aeons, which would either mean that the Aeon of Horus was rather short lived, or that those others were deluded, or maybe more than one Aeon can exist at the same time. I am not an expert in these matters, and all I have are my own experiences, so I would recommend talking to a real Thelemite about them.

For those who might not quite understand what an Aeon is, it's analogous to an "age," except with deeper occult implications. We all know that Christianity was born during the beginning of the age of Pisces, and that we are now waiting for the birth of the age of Aquarius. Some have said that the age of Aquarius has already begun, and others have said that it hasn't yet arrived. An age is defined as a period of time that it takes for the natural phenomenon of the precession of the equinoxes to move through one whole sign of the zodiac. Precession through an astrological sign takes around 2,166 years, and precession through all twelve signs takes around 26,000 years. Thus an astrological age is roughly little over two millennia, and the movement is backwards, so that's why the current age is Pisces, the previous age was Ares, and the next age is Aquarius. Is that quite the same thing as what Crowley was talking about in regards to the Aeon of Horus? Maybe it is, and then again, it more likely represents a powerful worldwide spiritual transition announced by some kind of spiritual avatar, which is what Crowley meant when he talked about it.

Whatever the case, as you can see, ages are born and then after two millennia, they pass away into another new age. The old order fails and disintegrates, and a new order rises in its place. Between the two ages there can be a lot of disruption, chaos, and even a dark ages lasting for hundreds of years. The beginning of the Age of Pisces also saw the beginning of the decline of the Roman empire, which as it fell, accelerated into the Dark Ages, at least for Western Europe. During this same period, the near east and the far east thrived, but Europe was thrown into chaos and barbarism for three or four centuries. With this in mind, it isn't inconceivable that the Age of Aquarius may have a very dark and disastrous beginning for much of the world. Only time will tell, and human ingenuity will be severely tested when fossil fuels become less available and much more expensive to extract. What will save us is radically new technologies, but equally, what might doom us is our inability to change until we absolutely have to (and then its too late).

From my own personal experience, I have been having visions, from time to time, of the end of the world occurring through some terrible catastrophe, and often they are based on a kind of world holocaust. They have occurred in my dreams, visions, and in my communications with spirits. Yet I know that this phenomenon has to do with the crossing of spiritual boundaries and limnal points, and it doesn't indicate that the world is literally going to end. I see it as a powerful and profound mythic and symbolic experience, but it represents that I have crossed a boundary to witness and see things that are beyond the threshold of this age. I am, ostensibly, seeing just slightly beyond this spiritual age and into the next one. Even so, what I am seeing is distorted and hindered by my beliefs, which are rooted in the current age. Still, I believe that as I become more spiritually advanced, I will be able to peer into the next great Age (or Aeon) and see it with a crystal clarity. I certainly haven't achieved that degree of clarity yet, but some of what I have seen and experienced has been a potent influence on my magickal practices and spiritual beliefs. It is, in a word, one of the more important sources of my inspiration and creative magickal work.

So how does one break through the boundaries of the current age and experience the emanations of the next and future age? I don't deliberately set out to achieve this phenomenon, but it does happen every time I work with mystical and magickal systems that test my current beliefs and force me to shed my biases and imbedded fictions. Encountering spirits, whether Godheads or even earth-based spirits, can have this effect, and so can meeting remarkable men and women. Pushing the envelop of one's mystical and magickal knowledge can also produce the phenomenon of crossing the Aeon Threshold, as I call it. That boundary and barrier is out there, and most are comforted by it (abiding within its protective envelop), but others seek to break through it. I guess you could say that I have always been one of those whose search for occult knowledge and spiritual truth forced me test all of the beliefs that I possessed. To discard what was obviously false and to adopt what was shown to be experientially true, this relentless process could easily make today's great realizations into tomorrow's discredited delusions. The process of seeking occult truth is without end, and it always leads one to that terrible and implacable boundary, with seemingly evil forces warding it from any entry. To cross this boundary is to experience the darkness and bitterness of the apocalypse, but just beyond that dark and terrifying vision is the dawning light of a new (and hopefully) better age. As a high plane traveler, I have skirted this boundary from time to time, hoping to catch a glimpse of the next great age.

Frater Barrabbas

Keywords: astral travel stories love spell caster night magic greeks gods and goddesses rituals of black magic free tarot deck book of shadows love spell magic powers norse mythology artwork norse mythology art
magichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11865414946868025409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4556812725036816318.post-59900090929289422862012-09-21T03:28:00.000-07:002012-10-26T05:34:33.315-07:00International Golden Dawn Pow Wow For Peace And Harmony

MARCH 29 - APRIL 9, 2013

JUST OUTSIDE LAS VEGAS

IN PAHRUMP, NEVADA, "THE NEW OLD WEST". This comes from a recent purchase of mine, Alchemy and Mysticism by Alexander Roob (Taschen) being a book of art of the Western mystery tradition and images from Liber Mutus, or the silent book, an alchemical text which depicts the collection and processing of dew. This mirrored nicely something I had read in the writings of Aleister Crowley in looking at the question of the cup. He speaks as follows:

"There is, however, a universal solvent and harmonizer, a certain dew which is so pure that a single drop of it cast into the water of the Cup will for the time being bring all to perfection. This dew is called Love. Even as in the case of human love, the whole Universe appears perfect to the man who is under its control, so is it, and much more, with the Divine Love of which it is now spoken."ALEISTER CROWLEY, BOOK 4"

The universal solvent can be considered an image of the Philosophers Vitrol or the Green Lion. It is a watery aggregate of the prima materia, or base matter. I have had a long, but not a very deep or practised interest in alchemy. I originally was of a school of thought that believed in alchemy as allegory and symbol, but the more I understand the nature of this scientific method, the more sure I am that literal, physical or lab alchemy is needed. It is a misfortune that I do not have the space or facilities at present to set up a lab, but wonder how it is that I can take aspects of lab alchemy in my own practice. In looking at banishing and the nature of the salt and water, we have seen that water is quite an influencable medium. The lab alchemist (apprenticed under Frater Albertus) Robert Bartlett speaks about this quality.

"In the liquid state materials are much more susceptible to astrological influences (especially through the Moon) and we use this to impress or augment a planetary power in our subject. It is not uncommon to repeat this process of solve et coagula a number of times using distilled water or a specially prepared type of water which has already captured certain astrological influences during its manufacture. With each cycle, the subject becomes more powerful."ROBERT BARTLETT "REAL ALCHEMY" PAGE 38 (2006)"

"Water is a strange creature. It is the only substance on our planet that exists in solid, liquid and gaseous states at the same time under the normal range of temperatures and pressures we experience... This universal fire of life is one of the alchemist's Secret Fires. As this spiritual fire hits our atmosphere, it condenses in the air and is carried by it. As the air fills with moisture, the universal Fire condenses even further and moves into the water."The water, charged with the Secret Fire (a Universal Mercury) becomes determined for use by a particular kingdom when it hits the Earth."ROBERT BARTLETT "REAL ALCHEMY" PAGE 49 (2006)"

As much as the water, or dew is determined for use by what it hits, we can work to cultivate a truly universal solvent by collecting dew from none of the established kingdoms (mineral, plant, animal, man), for example by pitching out a sheet of plastic to collect dew. This can be further distilled, or exposed to certain 'determining' features, for example, through acts of ritual magick. True distillation is not feasible for me without a lab, so the dew holds a more primitive manifestation, holding Hydrogen, oxygen, and trace elements of alkalies (ionic salt)as an expression of fire, water and air, being added to and working upon any medium it is added to.I wonder, with Crowleys words describing the dew as Love, whether this refers to active devotional practice. To be devoted to something, to work closely with any substance, is to engage in an act of connection, engagement and alignment, or love under will. We also find the dew as the philosophers stone in the Eastern tradition as immortality or amrita. Crowley speaks thus:

"In Hindu symbolism the Amrita or dew of immortality.1 drips constantly upon a man, but is burnt up by the gross fire of his appetites. Yogis attempt to catch and so preserve this dew by turning back the tongue in the mouth."ALEISTER CROWLEY BOOK 4"

The Amrita, or dew of immortality is often referred to as a nectar. In many ways it is synonymous with the Soma, an energising ritual drink in the Indian tradition. We meet a similar theme in the Zohar which links the dew with the manna, or spiritual bread on which the "souls of the just nourish themselves"Dew is normally 'harvested' in the late spring, during April and May. In Britain there is a belief that if dew is collected on a May day morning, itr can be used to affect healing or the appearance of the skin. If collected on a medium other than that of the four kingdoms (ie plastics) it can be collected and dedicated to a given purpose, as opposed to dew which is collected on mineral or plant mediums, thus pre-dedicating them to certain energetic correspondences.. I am intending to experiment with this in the coming months and to integrate this special substance into my occult practices. I have much still to learn but I must admit that I am intrigued...

"Love is the law love under will"

Keywords: benefits of astral projection moonchild aleister crowley buddhist meditation nyc the middle age buddhist meditations enochian tablet information about gods and goddesses greek gods and goddesses and their powers the names of the greek gods and goddesses egyptian god and goddess
magichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11865414946868025409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4556812725036816318.post-39686198974897223272012-08-24T23:28:00.000-07:002012-10-27T22:25:36.496-07:00Comselh Aoiveae Ritual

This ritual is the macrocosmic complement to the COMSELH AOIVEAE, and was developed along with that ritual for our magical working group, Comselh Ananael. It is based on an earlier ritual of mine called the MADRIAX which used the symbol of the heptagram in accordance with its basic symbolism drawn from John Dee's "Heptarchia Mystica". The angels of the "Heptarchia" do not appear on the Great Table and are explicitly planetary and attributed to the days of the week. Each day has a King and Prince who have specific offices and behave somewhat like a planetary intelligence and spirit, though the distinction is not nearly as clear-cut as it is with Agrippa's planetary hierarchy. In general, the Kings are associated with knowledge and learning and the Princes with mundane actions. The ruling angels of the system are CARMARA and HAGONEL, who do not seem to be bound to any particular day, though in the Heptarchia their conjurations appear along with those for the King and Prince related to Monday.

The COMSELH MADRIAX does not use the figure of the heptagram at the various directional points but that of the Unicursal Hexagram. The same figure is used in the microcosmic COMSELH AOIVEAE and this is a break from the Golden Dawn tradition. The Golden Dawn used the pentagram to symbolize the microcosm and the standard bicursal hexagram to symbolize the macrocosm, which they related to the formula of the Adept or 5=6. The Unicursal Hexagram is a hybrid symbol - it can represent the elements (as shown in Aleister Crowley's "Book of Thoth" or in an earlier knowledge lectures of the Golden Dawn) or it can represent the planets, as it is sometimes used by modern magicians. Israel Regardie was one of the first advocates of this latter usage, especially because it allowed a Hexagram of the Sun to be drawn from the central point. However, even when used in a planetary context the figure retains its elemental symbolism and is less suitable than the standard hexagram for pure planetary operations. To draw a standard Golden Dawn Hexagram of the Sun it is necessary to trace all six planetary hexagrams, which as Michael Sandborn comments in "The Unicursal Hexagram as Hyperbola" is a "wonderful isometric exercise."

The departure from the Golden Dawn pentagram/hexagram symbolism is grounded in the essential concepts of operant magick. The Operant Field Model proposes that the mind of the magician corresponds to a field effect that is experienced as consciousness. This is termed the Personal Field. Fields are also created by individual objects, and these fields unite into larger fields when those objects interact. These are called Transpersonal Fields. The magician is able to influence objects because he or she has trained the personal field to synchronize with a transpersonal field that contains those objects and then is able to use concentrated thought to affect them. Essentially, magick is possible when the Personal Field and a Transpersonal Field are conjoined. Bringing the macrocosmic and microcosmic realms into alignment in this manner is the basic goal of the opening rituals, such as those of the pentagram and hexagram.

The Unicursal Hexagram is an ideal glyph to accomplish this, especially if it is considered as a representation of a hyperbola. Michael Sandborn's "The Unicursal Hexagram as Hyperbola" was very influential in the design of this ritual and its counterpart, even moreso than it was in the development of our alternative Lesser Ritual of the Hexagram. The interesting thing about the hyperbola is that from a mathematical standpoint there are not two curves, but one, even though the figure is drawn as two arcs facing in opposite directions that do not appear to touch. If the upper curve is envisioned as the Transpersonal realm and the lower curve is envisioned as the Personal Field, then this figure is indeed ideally suited for use in complementary rituals intended to accomplish the union of the two realms, uniting that which at first appears to be separate.

The points of the Unicursal Hexagram may be attributed to the planets, though as Sanborn mentions in his article it is not clear that a solar form can actually be drawn from the center point. The planetary form retains its elemental characteristics which harmonize nicely with the usage of the figure in the COMSELH AOIVEAE. The standard planetary arrangement used for both forms of the hexagram is based on the Tree of Life, specifically the placement of spheres 3-9. The elemental attributions can be found in the commentary on the COMSELH AOIVEAE. Combining the planetary and elemental attributions yields the following:

* Top Point: Saturn = Active Spirit
* Upper Right: Jupiter = Water
* Upper Left: Mars = Fire
* Lower Right: Venus = Earth
* Lower Left: Mercury = Air
* Bottom Point: Moon = Passive Spirit

Attributing Active Spirit to Saturn may seem odd since Saturn is usually seen in astrology as representing limitation and structure, but Saturn also is the Lord of Initiation and stands in for all three supernal spheres. In this arrangement it signifies the actions of the Heavens, just as the Moon signifies the actions of the Earth. The top and bottom points are larger than the side points because they represent the active and passive polarities that give rise to the other four elements. The standard hexagram is a more "pure" planetary symbol since it reflects a completely balanced arrangement of the planets by virtue of having six identical points.

Banishing and invoking planets using the Unicursal Hexagram works slightly differently than banishing and invoking elements. With elements, the figure is traced toward the point attributed to the element to invoke and away from the point attributed to the element to banish. With planets, the figure is traced starting at the point attributed to the planet moving clockwise to invoke and counter-clockwise to banish. As noted in Sanborn's essay, this presents a problem because there is no way to draw a fully clockwise or counter-clockwise Unicursal Hexagram - the "twist" in the middle of the figure means that the tracing will always switch directions in the course of completing the shape. How this is resolved is to move clockwise or counter-clockwise from the perspective of the point from which the figure is being traced.

In the COMSELH AOIVEAE, the Unicursal Hexagrams are traced to the four directions in such a way that the temple is envisioned as a two-dimensional space. The dimension of spirit - that is, the path followed by the Lightning Flash and Serpent of Wisdom - is represented by the third dimension of the space, the vertical axis. In the COMSELH MADRIAX, the Unicursal Hexagrams are traced in a three-dimensional configuration to form a sphere with the representation of the Sun at its center. The spiritual dimension can no longer be modeled as the vertical axis and is then represented as turning inward and outward rather than upward and downward. This reflects the true macrocosmic shape of the fields involved - for the Personal Field to align a Transpersonal Field, the field that is experienced as consciousness must expand outward to encompass more of the universe than just the individual self. This is why mysticism is an important part of any magical practice - it teaches the expansion of the self beyond the artificial boundaries imposed by personal perceptions.

The second section of the ritual calls upon the Governors, twelve Angels that rule over the various parts of the earth and are related to the signs of the Zodiac. Like the Angels of the Heptarchia, these Governors do not appear on the Tablet of the Watchtowers and represent the pure force of the signs of the Zodiac. As an aside, note that these twelve Governors are not the same as the Angelic names of the ninety-one Parts of the Earth, which do appear on the Tablet, despite the fact that the Golden Dawn Enochian system refers to the Parts of the Earth as "the Governors." It is clear from the original passage in Dee's diaries that when the Angels make reference to the Governors, they mean these twelve Zodiacal Governors and not the Parts of the Earth.

Benjamin Rowe makes the following comments in "The 91 Parts of the Earth: Introduction":

It should be emphasized that these Parts are not "governors of the Aethyrs", as has been mistakenly said by some writers. The name of the Part does not invoke a specific being, but only a certain locale of the Enochian universe, with its particular qualities. Nor does the Part in any way "rule" the Aethyr of which it is a portion. One might view the relationship between Parts and Aethyrs as being similar to the relationship between the decanates of the zodiac and the signs of which they are a section. The Voice of the Part is not the Part itself, but one of the unnamed ministers who dwells therein.

Every part is governed by one of twelve "Zodiacal Kings", who is associated with one of the Tribes of Israel. The angels did not give Dee an explicit listing of their zodiacal attributes; he was told to derive it from the related tribe. Apparently he never did so. In these visions, the following system of attributes was used, which differs from both Agrippa system with which Dee was familiar, and the G.D. system.

* Aries = Alpudus = Isacarah
* Taurus = Hononol = Iehudah
* Gemini = Zarzilg = Nephthalim
* Cancer = Gebabal = Asseir
* Leo = Olpaged = Dan
* Virgo = Cadaamp = Benjamin
* Libra = Zarnaah = Manasse
* Scorpio = Arfaolg = Ephraim
* Sagittarius = Lavavot = Gad
* Capricorn = Zurchol = Simeon
* Aquarius = Ziracah = Ruben
* Pisces = Zinggen = Zabulon

The logic of this system is based on the disposition of the Tribes depicted in Numbers 2, combined with Dee's diagram of that disposition. There are several possible systems that could be derived from these sources; the one actually used was chosen by divination after the major possibilities were assessed.

Rowe's attributions of the Governors to the signs are used in the second section of this ritual.

PART I: THE PLANETS

There is no specific opening step in this ritual that is comparable to sections I and IV of the pentagram ritual, since it is assumed that this ritual is encapsulated by the COMSELH AOIVEAE. By this I mean that you perform the COMSELH AOIVEAE up through "Behold, the circle of stars, and I the all-powerful in the midst," perform this ritual, perform additional ritual work as you will, and close with section IV of the COMSELH AOIVEAE. As such, the opening has already been done and the closing will be performed following the conclusion of whatever additional ritual work is being done.

* Face the east. If the Holy Table is present, stand to the west of it. In all cases, you will be casting across the Holy Table to the opposite side of the Temple, so "turn to the south" means to move to the north of the Table facing south. In the east, trace the Unicursal Hexagram of Mars in red and vibrate BABALEL (BAH-bah-lel).
* Turn to the south. In the south, trace the Unicursal Hexagram of Mercury in white and vibrate BNASPOL (BNAS-pohl).
* Turn to the west. In the west, trace the Unicursal Hexagram of Jupiter in green and vibrate BYNEPOR (BY-neh-pohr).
* Turn to the north. In the north, trace the Unicursal Hexagram of Venus in black and vibrate BALIGON (BAH-lee-gohn). These first four planets are attributed according to the density of the associated element on the Unicursal Hexagram.
* Return to the east, completing the circle. Above you or above the Holy Table in front of you, trace the Unicursal Hexagram of Saturn in bright violet and vibrate BNAPSEN (BNAP-sen).
* Below you or below the Holy Table in front of you trace the Unicursal Hexagram of the Moon in deep purple and vibrate BLUMAZA (blu-MAH-zah).
* Trace a heptagram (or heptangle) surrounding your heart, starting at the solar point and moving clockwise, in bright yellow-gold. Then clasp your hands over your heart and vibrate BOBOGEL (BOH-boh-ghel).

PART II: THE GOVERNORS

The twelve zodiacal Governors are now called upon in a widdershins circle that counterbalances the deosil circle of hexagrams. Starting with Aries in the east, the magician traces the sign attributed to the Governor while vibrating the name. He or she then moves 30 degrees widdershins and does the same for the next Governor in the series (Taurus in this case). If the banners are present lining the circle they may be decorated with the appropriate sign and Governor name in addition to the Name of God, which will aid memorization. This action is repeated until the magician has made a full widdershins circumambulation of the Temple and is again facing east.

* In the east, trace the sigil of Aries in red and vibrate ALPUDUS (AL-puh-dus).
* Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the east-northeast trace the sigil of Taurus in red and vibrate HONONOL (HOH-noh-nol).
* Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the north-northeast trace the sigil of Gemini in black and vibrate ZARZILG (ZAR-zeelg).
* Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the north trace the sigil of Cancer in black and vibrate GEBABAL (GEH-bah-bahl).
* Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the north-northwest trace the sigil of Leo in black and vibrate OLPAGED (OHL-pah-ged).
* Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the west-northwest trace the sigil of Virgo in green and vibrate CADAAMP (KAH-dah-ahmp).
* Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the west trace the sigil of Libra in green and vibrate ZARNAAH (ZAR-nah-ah).
Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the west-southwest trace the sigil of Scorpio in green and vibrate ARFAOLG (AR-fah-olg). * Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the south-southwest trace the sigil of Sagittarius in white and vibrate LAVAVOT (LAH-vah-voht).
* Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the south trace the sigil of Capricorn in white and vibrate ZURCHOL (ZUR-khol).
* Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the south-southeast trace the sigil of Aquarius and vibrate ZIRACAH (ZEER-ah-kah).
* Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise. To the east-southeast trace the sigil of Pisces in red and vibrate ZINGGEN (ZEENG-gehn).
* Turn 30 degrees counter-clockwise, completing the circle and returning to face the east. Make the Sign of Apophis and Typhon and vibrate TA CALZ I OROCHA (TAH KAHL-zod EE or-OH-cha - "As above the firmament so beneath").

* Pause for a moment and visualize the energies of the planets and Zodiac coming into being, uniting the microcosmic and macrocosmic universes. The full visualization for this ritual consists of:

* The full COMSELH AOIVEAE visualization.
* Planetary Unicursal Hexagrams to the four quarters in the four directional colors, merging with the directional hexagrams of the COMSELH AOIVEAE.
* The Unicursal Hexagram of Saturn above in bright violet and that of the Moon below in deep purple
* The Solar Heptagram in bright gold surrounding your heart. It is within the pentagram you traced over yourself in the opening of the COMSELH AOIVEAE.
* The full circle of the Zodiac, drawn beyond the hexagrams so that it seems to extend to the edges of the cosmos.
* All of these elements merged together into a single coherent whole, which is the magical field.

PART III: COMPLETION

This step varies depending on whether you are using this ritual as a banishing or as an invocation, and whether or not it is being used with other ritual work. If the ritual is being used in conjunction with any other ritual work perform this entire part as written. If it is being performed as a banishing to clear a space or neutralize magical influences, skip to step 3. If it is being performed as an invocation to provide a general flow of energy to ongoing magical effects or as a daily practice, stop at step 1. CARMARA is the name of the King who rules over the entire Heptarchy of Angels.

* If you are performing additional ritual work, make the Sign of Rending the Veil, as though parting a heavy curtain in front of you with both hands, and intone MADRIAX CARMARA YOLCAM LONSHI (MAH-dree-ahx kar-MAH-rah YOHL-kahm LOHN-shee - "O ye heavens of CARMARA, bring forth power").
* Perform any additional ritual work here, to its conclusion.
* Make the Sign of Closing the Veil, as though closing a heavy curtain in front of you with both hands, and intone: MADRIAX CARMARA ADRPAN LONSHI (MAH-dree-ahx kar-MAH-rah, AHD-rpahn LOHN-shee - "O ye heavens of CARMARA, cast down power").

At this point, the conclusion to the AOIVEAE is performed, and the ritual is complete.
magichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11865414946868025409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4556812725036816318.post-91467886729647108302012-08-18T07:20:00.000-07:002012-10-28T09:02:50.609-07:00Crowley Fest Boleskine House

Hold onto your bedlinens and cups of tea - scary stuff! When I'm interested in searching for information on ritual techniques I'm really not interested in getting back pages describing the cups and balls trick or how to pull a rabbit out of a hat. Similarly, if I'm looking for good card tricks I would rather not be pulling back pages on reading Tarot. Using "magic" for stage magic and "magick" for ceremonial and ritual techniques really works - or at least it would if people would follow the convention.

This brings me to a recent article referencing "magick" that completely misuses the term. This weekend in Tacoma, Washington a self-described "magickian" named Gf Kanick put on a performance. From the article:

Kanick spells magick with a "k" to distinguish his art. Magick with a "k" is a linguistic signal pioneered by Victorian bad boy, mountain climber and legendary mystic Aleister Crowley, who used the word magick, with a "K," to distinguish his explorations of consciousness and other psychonautic systems from the stage work of everyday magicians. Kanick, like Crowley, is no everyday magician, and says his goal is to take people out of their comfort zones to a place where magick is more than an act.

I'm sure Kanick is quite good at what he does, but if he's comparing himself to Crowley on the grounds that he does innovative illusions all I can really do here is call bullshit. Aleister Crowley spent his entire life developing an innovative spiritual system for personal development and beyond. Anybody who would compare that level of work to putting together a compelling stage performance doesn't really know anything about Crowley and shouldn't be appropriating his terminology incorrectly.

Let's face it. This:

A master of many arts, Kanick's talents will be offered as part of Hypothesis, a synthesis of illusion, comedy, sideshow feats, juggling and vaudeville variety.

Has absolutely nothing to do with ritual or ceremonial magick, or with Crowley's work, and it is exactly the "counterfeit" from which the science of the Magi needs to be distinguished.

For what it's worth, though, I'm happy to see that the article describes Crowley as a "legendary mystic" rather than as a baby-sacrificing Satanist. Maybe after more than fifty years some of the media nonsense surrounding his life is starting to die down.
magichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11865414946868025409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4556812725036816318.post-4213894338766262362012-08-14T04:53:00.000-07:002012-10-26T06:06:02.681-07:00The Golden Dawn Hatfield And Maccoy Feud

I am not astounded that my liking a forthcoming book, the GRAND KEY OF SOLOMON THE KING, has provoked the ire and venom of BIORC Golden Dawn leader, Morgan Drake Eckstein. After all, there is a long history of any book that gets a positive review by Sincerus Renatus, by me, or by any other Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn (AO) member, immediately being trashed by Morgan or his colleagues from the "official" list of Golden Dawn orders Morgon allies himself with.

THE GOLDEN DAWN HATFIELD CLAN

I am, however, a little surprised that a few casual remarks I made over a Cafe Latte should meet with such dripping sarcasm from Morgan - and that he would even mischaracterize such casual remarks as a full-on book review.

Let there be no doubt about it. The Golden Dawn flamewars (Hatfield and MacCoy feud on the internet) that have harmed the Golden Dawn tradition for decades have taken a new, subtle, yet perverted twist: POLITICALLY MOTIVATED BOOK REVIEWS. And yes, despite his scholarly veneer, Morgan Eckstein is also a principal player in this twisted game.

Want proof?

Why else would Morgan Drake Eckstein choose to review a Golden Dawn book that has been out of print for five years, except that it was written by an HOGD/AO member and was suddenly getting a lot of positive attention?

Want more proof?

Why else does Morgan Eckstein routinely SPAM his IDENTICAL reviews all across the internet - from his personal blog, to www.associatedcontent.com, to www.helium.com, to www.bukisa.com?

The reason is clear.

Morgan Drake Eckstein wants to make sure that his attack reviews show up on Google in as many places as possible.

Morgon, why not drop the Golden Dawn Hatfield and McCoy "review" sniping for once, and answer these tough questions instead?

Morgan's Golden Dawn feuding and review spamming do not represent responsible, credible reviewing. In fact, review spamming clearly violates the Terms of Service of many of the content sites Morgan Drake Eckstein has been flooding with the Golden Dawn Hatfield and McCoy feud.

More importantly, Morgan Drake Eckstein has escalated the Golden Dawn flamewars to a whole new arena - politically motivated Golden Dawn book "review" sniping.

Now that you see clearly what Morgan Drake Eckstein is really up to, let us look in depth at a point or two that he just made during his latest. Jed Hatfield, double-barrelled shotgun salvo. Morgan Drake Eckstein wrote: "I doubt that anyone who is familiar with Norse mythology, Greek mythology, or Egyptian mythology is surprised that spirits have first names. (I am not sure about other mythologies, but a passing study of any one of these three should provide the student the hint that spirits have whole names, and not just last names.)" I am impressed, Morgon, that for you this information is common knowledge (after the fact). I would be even more impressed if you were prove your point, for example by presenting a list of the 72 goetic spirits containing their first names and their surnames. Can you find this information in any source text that is familiar to modern Golden Dawn magicians? (Full Disclosure: The Grand Key of Solomon doesn't deal with 72 goetic spirits, by the way).

Morgan Drake Eckstein continues: "And no one who is experienced in working with evocation should be surprised either. After all, the first thing you ask a spirit is for its name. A single experience of a spirit giving you a full name should be enourgh to wake you up to the fact that Western grimoires are incomplete." I happen to be a collector of Grimoires, although it is common knowledge that I prefer Chaldeaen magic grimoires to Solomonic ones. Moreover, I am a collector of magical sigils - of which my Liber Sigillum presently contains 3,465 sigils.

This isn't about what experienced ceremonialists with access to rare grimoire archives like ourselves would know, Morgon. This is about what the average Golden Dawn initiate has access to. Morgon, would you please be so kind a to show us the principle of first and last name for a spirit and its importance to evocation outlined in any official Golden Dawn paper? Or how about showing us where this notion even been mentioned in any of the works of John Dee?

It seems many of the experienced magicians were either unfamiliar with this principle or kept it outside of their personal notes, so how are we to expect the beginners to know?

Morgan Drake Eckstein wrote:"The fact that Arabic grimoires are more complete should not be a surprise either. The really nasty attacks came on "anonymous" websites and blogs. The Alpha Omega was also attacked in the courtroom in an failed attempt to prevent us from even calling our order Golden Dawn. Due to the hard work and skill of our Praemonstrator and attorney, GH Frater DeDI, we managed to prevent anyone from gaining absolute control over the Golden Dawn trademark.

It should come as no surprise then that over the years, I have earned a special place of hatred in the hearts of those who want to destroy the Alpha Omega and to control the Golden Dawn. Never since Aleister Crowley has any esoteric leader been so attacked and maligned as I have over the past two decades I have served as Archon Basileus of the Alpha Omega and Imperator of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

The HOGD and the AO are by no means the only traditionalist Golden Dawn orders to have been subjected to legal harrassment and internet defamation. Dr. Robert Word, Chief Adept of the August Order of the Mystic Rose, was legally harrassed as well - and nearly bankrupted in the process of defending himself and the AOMR.

At the recent Conclave of the Adepti, hosted by the AO near Las Vegas, Nevada, our College of the Adepts told me they are fed up with the constant harrassment of our order, our members, and our leaders. They are particularly unhappy with my having to waste so much time defending the reputation of our order, which could be better spent translating additional magical transmissions for our College.

To free up my time, numerous Adepts stepped forward, offering to assist in defending the reputation of our order and its members. You may have already noticed in recent weeks the vigilent presence of AO Adepts across the Internet. I commend them for the find job they are doing in defending the Rose of our order from further defamation.

I was not suprised that our Adepts were fed up. After all, what more could the AO do? Our order had worked tirelessly to promote harmony in the Golden Dawn community for years. We had tried to reason with our attackers using logic. I had tried to reason with them using humor. We had even invited them to share the mysteries of the higher grades of the Golden Dawn at our International Conclave of the Adepti.

It had become clear there was no way that hate filled individuals would end their Witch Hunt against the AO, no matter what we did. Therefore, the Adepti suggested we step up our reputation defense, and we make crystal clear to the world what is really going on.

For AO Adepts, Nick Farrell's latest book, which in its introduction slanders our order by implication, was the last straw. Farrell had been spreading malicious rumors about our order on the internet for nearly two decades. He had published our rituals. He had slandered our founder Mathers and our present leaders. He had deeply offended our members. And now, said the Adepti, Farrell had crossed a line that demanded a firm response from our College.

Our order therefore drew a line for Farrell in the sand. Amazon.com was the ideal venue for our College to show its resolve, as Amazon is the primary place Farrell sells his book attacking the Alpha Omega.

One would think that, once Nick Farrell became aware of how he had offended his Golden Dawn brothers and sisters of the AO, he would have apologized to them. Instead, Farrell once again unleashed the full fury of his Witch Hunt. Our order and its leaders were attacked by anonymous trolls with vile slanderon Farrell's personal blog and on hate filled blogs of his friends.

Farrell, as he has done for decades, tried to blame his agression once again on our order. He denied the offensive passage in the book even referred to our order, yet turned around and spread the the same vile rumors on his personal blog! As a diversionary tactic, he even accused me of "forging" the introduction to his book!

Farrell and his hate blog allies, next claimed that I, as AO Imperator, am merely inventing the entire 20+ years of attacks on the members of our order. He claimed I do this to brainwash AO members to unite our order against an imaginary outside enemy. That 20+ years of legal and internet attacks are thoroughly, historically documented did not hinder Farrell in his Witch Hunt in the least.

I next published Episode 3, "The Dark Secret Revealed" of The Golden Dawn Saga to make clear to the greater esoteric community what Nick Farrell's real agenda is and has been all along. I showed how the arguments in Farrell's book he uses to attack the Alpha Omega, our Secret Chiefs, and our founder, S.L. MacGregor Mathers, are the identical arguments used for decades by Fundamentalist Christians to attack the Golden Dawn. As proof, I directed readers to "Uncommon Sense Ministries," an anti-Golden Dawn and anti-Pagan web site operated by Fundamentalist Christians out to destroy the Golden Dawn.

Instead of any rational reply, Farrell and his allies began behaving like third graders in a food fight, unleashing a tsunami of hate-filled slander against our order and its leaders on the Internet. Farrell mocked the parallel between his attacks on the Alpha Omega and Fundamentalist Christian attacks on the Golden Dawn, claiming "I am not even Chrisitan."

Farrell had completely missed the point. I was never implying Nick Farrell is a Fundamentalist Christian. I am saying, however, that the dark specter of Fundamentalism has reared its ugly head in the Golden Dawn community - and that Farrell and others like him are, in reality, Golden Dawn Fundamentalists...

I am also saying that Golden Dawn Fundamentalists are using the tactics of Fundamentalist Christians to attack their Golden Dawn brothers and sisters in the Alpha Omega!

FUNDAMENTALIST GOLDEN DAWN CREED

"You AO freaks are delusional!

Your lineage is a lie!

There are no Secret Chiefs!

Your Imperator, like Mathers your Founder...

... is a madman and a liar!

Repent, you AO witches - Or rot and burn in fire!"

Let us examine, therefore, the dangers of Fundamentalism for the Golden Dawn Community. Any kind of fundamentalism, be it Biblical, atheistic or Islamic, is dangerous. The new fundamentalism of our age leads to the language of expulsion and exclusivity, of extremism and polarisation, precisely as we are experiencing today in the Golden Dawn community.

The Witch Hunt that Golden Dawn Fundamentalists have waged against the AO and other traditionalist Golden Dawn orders for 20+ years now, has all of the hallmarks of same sort of fanaticism that typifies Christian Fundamentalism.

Take, for example, accusations of delusion leveled by Nick Farrell and Golden Dawn Fundamentalists against S.L. MacGregor Mathers and modern leaders of traditionalist Golden Dawn orders. This is stongly reminiscent of extremist accusations leveled by Christian Fundamentalists against Joseph Smith and leaders of the Morman sub-culture within Christianity.

The way Golden Dawn Fundamentalists unreflectively dismiss all evidence that does not support their ideological agenda, perfectly typifies extremist Fundamentalism as well. Take for example, the doctrine of the Secret Chiefs as the actual, physical source of origin of the Golden Dawn. Golden Dawn Fundamentalists dismiss the Secret Chiefs as fantasy and any Golden Dawn group that embraces the Secret Chiefs as a source of origin are derided as "delusional."

Or take the Rosicrucian origins and spiritual lineage of the Golden Dawn. Golden Dawn Fundamentalists claim the Golden Dawn was founded on a hoax. Or take he magical talent and syncretic genius of S.L. MacGregor Mathers - Fundamenalists attack both Mathers and modern leaders of traditionalist Golden Dawn orders as "crazy."

Golden Dawn Fundamentalists, as basic tenets of their doctrine, hold that:

1.The Golden Dawn was founded on a hoax2. S.L. MacGregor Mathers was not magically talented at all, 3. the Secret Chiefs are but delusions, 4. There is no lineage5. The Golden Dawn died when the Whare Ra temple closed its doors.

They also hold, however, that despite all of this "the Golden Dawn system works when properly reconstructed."

In his book, The New Inquisition, Robert Anton Wilson (recognized episkopos, pope, and saint of the parody religion Discordianism), lampoons the members of skeptical organizations like the Golden Dawn Fundamentalist faction, as fundamentalist materialists, alleging that they dogmatically dismiss any evidence that conflicts with their materialism as hallucination or fraud. We see this clearly in the agression of Golden Dawn Fundamentalists towards anyone who does not ascribe to their materialistic dismissal of the Secret Chiefs, the founding of the order, etc.

All these themes mirror precisely arguments we find Fundamentalist Christians using in their attacks on the Golden Dawn on the "Uncommon Sense Ministries" website. All of these Fundamentalist Christian attack themes we find mirrored and elaborated in Nick Farrell's books, blogs, and internet postings, but attacking the Alpha Omega and other traditionalist Golden Dawn orders.

Fundamentalist groups generally refuse to participate in events with any group that does not share its essential doctrines. The Golden Dawn witnessed this after the recent Conclave of the Adepti, to which Adepts from the entire Golden Dawn community were invited. Golden Dawn Fundamentalists chose not to come, so they could continue to dismiss evidence running contrary to their Fundamentalist materialist ideology.

We have witnessed over and over in the Golden Dawn community for over two decades how Golden Dawn Fundamentalists selectively ignore all presented evidence, all rational dialogue, and respond only with personal attacks and with propaganda "talking points" instead.

Finally, Fundamentalism is not merely the demand for a strict adherence to specific ideological doctrines. Fundamentalism is usually combined with a vigorous attack on any percieved outside threats to their ideological sub-culture. Clearly, Golden Dawn Fundamentalists see traditionalist Golden Dawn orders as a threat to their ideological agenda. This explains the Golden Dawn Fundamentalists' 20 year long Witch Hunt.

Like their Christian counterparts, Golden Dawn Fundamentalists refuse to participate in events with any group that does not share their essential doctrines. They refuse to view the members of the Alpha Omega as their Golden Dawn brothers and sisters or even to treat them with any modicum of fraternal dignity or respect.

Instead, Golden Dawn Fundamentalists offend our members, offer no apology, dismiss our Secret Chiefs, pretend our Higher Mysteries do not exist, call us liers and delusional, paranoid - and even manipulative, when we as an order finally stand up to their bullying - and declare...

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

The true motives of Golden Dawn Fundamentalists are now plain for all to see. Now that their game is exposed, the time has come for the GD Fundies to end their Witch Hunt once and for all.

SO SAY WE ALL!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: TODAY NICK FARRELL WROTE ON HIS BLOG: "I STARTED OUT AT AGED TEN FALLING INTO A BORN AGAIN CULT WHICH LASTED FOR NEARLY SEVEN YEARS." Mr. Farrell then claims he has since left Christianity. This, however, in no way negates that Mr. Farrell's 20 year Witch Hunt against the AO bears all of the hallmarks of Fundamentalist intolerance and fanaticism.

Mr. Farrell still does not seem to get it. One must not be Christian to ascribe to a Fundamentalist mind set. Islamic Fundamentalists, for example, are just as dangerous as Christian Fundamentalists.

It is alarming that a uniquely Golden Dawn Fundamentalism appears to have developed in our community unnoticed, bearing all the hallmarks of fanatical Fundamentalism:

1. DEMAND FOR A STRICT ADHERENCE TO SPECIFIC IDEOLOGICAL DOCTRINES, COMBINED WITH
2. A VIGOROUS ATTACK ON ANY PERCIEVED OUTSIDE THREATS TO THEIR IDEOLOGICAL SUB-CULTURE,
3. REFUSAL TO PARTICIPATE IN EVENTS WITH ANY GROUP THAT DOES NOT SHARE ITS ESSENTIAL DOCTRINES, AND
4. DOGMATIC DISMISSAL OF EVIDENCE THAT CONFLICTS WITH THEIR MATERIALISM AS HALLUCINATION OR FRAUD.

MR. FARRELL'S 20 WITCH HUNT AGAINST THE MEMBERS OF THE AO CERTAINLY EMBODIES ALL OF THE HALLMARKS OF AFUNDAMENTALIST MIND SET - ESPECIALLY IN ITS FANATICAL INTOLERANCE OF IDEOLOGICAL DIVERSITY IN THE GOLDEN DAWN COMMUNITY.

BY DAVID GRIFFIN

Keywords: occultic practices astral projection how to leather grimoire instant astral projection names of norse gods is the necronomicon real free tarot card reading tarot cards spreads waite tarot cards astral travels
magichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11865414946868025409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4556812725036816318.post-4888017089287191792012-07-27T01:08:00.000-07:002012-10-09T10:24:18.392-07:00Yetziratic Tarot And Sephirotic

THE ALEPH-BETH: ATTRIBUTIONS (YETZIRATIC, TAROT AND SEPHIROTIC)

HEBREW SYMBOL. In different orders and temples across the whole Golden Dawn community, there are brothers and sisters that know me as "AIT." Here in the blogosphere, readers know me mostly through my on-line magical journal, Heavens Within Earth.

I originally intended to write a short post politely refuting claims made by "Ken Figuly" in recent aggressive posts on Robert Zink's blogs, but I have to admit to difficulty making sense of his posts' content. The more time I wasted reading "Figuly's" posts, the less polite I felt this response could be.

I'll still keep it short. In his post first post on the Golden Dawn blog, Kenny Figuly writes:"Where was the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn when their Imperator General [Robert Zink], a member of their family, needed them most? (Could it be that some of the leaders were looking at this as a chance to advance their own position and thus cause desertion within the membership to the point of convincing people that somehow true honor came through breaking ones oath?)Shame on the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn for taking sides in this matter and shame on John D. Griffin for perpetuating the rift."In his second post, Figuly next writes:"He [Robert Zink] admitted that he was not as attentive as he should have been at, "creating a welcoming atmosphere for the neophyte on his or her journey through the system of The Golden Dawn." He realizes now, more than ever, "the Neophyte should be received and cultivated so that the development potential is extraordinary."Kenny Figuly's first message tries to blame everyone in the Golden Dawn community but Robert Zink himself for Zink's gross misdemeanors that led to more or less the entire Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn booting Zink out and/or voting with their feet.

The second post appears a half-hearted attempt at apology by Mr. Zink, who I will not refer to as Frater, for no Frater of mine would treat people in the fashion that Zink has: Robbing people blind, allegedly sexually assaulting them (yes, giving someone your personal "fluid condenser" is a sexual assault), using your Order as part of your New Age marketing sales scheme...that's a far sight worse than not "creating a welcoming atmosphere" as Mr. Figuly claims. The gall of "Ken Figuly", to write this nonsense in support of Zink is truly astonishing.

Mr. Figuly's defense and support of Zink-a man with a proven track record of grossly abusing his Initiates - is bewildering to say the least. How can. Figuly even do so in good conscience? As far as I am concerned, Figuly looks like just another one of Robert Zink's sock puppets. Having read his posts, I can't help but feel doubtful that Mr. Figuly is even a real person separate from Robert Zink.

The rest of Figuly's posts are just more marketing non-speak, with even nonsense about making the "light graceless and infertile". What does that even mean? How does one man make the "Light" anything other than what it is?

And how does conversation make it infertile, when committing various crimes against one's own students does not?

Foolishness.

And let's not forget Robert Zink's expulsion letter, signed by almost the entire EOGD Second Order Adepti, cited as a primary reason for dumping Zink as a leader:"ROBERT ZINK HAS CREATED AND USES SEVERAL BLOGS AND FORUMS THAT HE HAS CONNECTED WITH OUR ORDER'S NAME TO MAKE PERSONAL ATTACKS ON OTHER MEMBERS OF THE GOLDEN DAWN COMMUNITY ESPECIALLY, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAVID GRIFFIN. LET IT BE UNDERSTOOD, THAT ALTHOUGH DAVID GRIFFIN'S ORDER AND OURS OPERATE UNDER VERY DIFFERENT PHILOSOPHIES AND INTERPRETATIONS OF THE GOLDEN DAWN TRADITION, WE DO NOT CONDONE THESE ATTACKS BY ROBERT ZINK AND THEY DO NOT REFLECT THE ATTITUDES OF THE ADEPTI OF OUR SECOND ORDER. "AFTER EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENNED, IT IS OUTRAGEOUS THAT ZINK IS STILL UP TO HIS OLD TRICKS. UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES, ROBERT ZINK USING KEN FIGULY TO STILL continue to attack GH Fra LES (David Griffin) and all of the former members who left the EOGD - for speaking out against Zink's crimes - is plain silly.

In my book, Mr. Griffin and they should all receive a medals for it, all things considered!

- AIT

There is NO excuse for violating the Prime Directive.

Keywords: aleister crowley beatles magical book shaman tarot deck is astral projection dangerous philosophy of religion love gods and goddesses quick love spells jhon dee magic voodoo spells breaking love spells
magichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11865414946868025409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4556812725036816318.post-55148856201103657712012-07-24T17:16:00.000-07:002012-10-23T13:43:14.265-07:00Black Magic Thelema Spell

WARNING: PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!

YOU WILL BE ASKED TO USE MUCH MORE OF YOUR WILL IN THIS SPELL THAN A WHITE OR GRAY MAGICK SPELL. One actually tried more than once before coming up with a scheme to call his group the Golden Dawn even though his new rituals actually reverse Golden Dawn concepts. (Why call it the "Golden Dawn" if you don't want to follow the teachings of that group?) The other frequently declares that he is trying to structure peace between Golden Dawn groups while he regularly leads the battles by writing attacks on other groups and individuals."The above is vintage Golden Dawn Flame War verbiage...

... With Donald Michael Kraig hiding behind a mask of feigned objectivity - and not revealing which Golden Dawn order he belongs to while misusing his author's ethos and the Llewellyn blog as a "bully" pulpit.

Particularly noteworthy is how Kraig mischaracterizes legitimate, scholarly debate in the Golden Dawn community as "attacks," while he himself attacks half of the Golden Dawn community in the very same paragraph.

This is the sort of bullying, duplicitous misrepresentation that typifies Witch War as well as the decades old, Golden Dawn internet flame war, which sadly - judging from the above rant - appears to be alive and well today on the Llewellyn Worldwide blog - with Don Kraig acting as "de facto" spokesperson of a Golden Dawn order that has been kindling flames in our Golden Dawn community for nearly two decades now.

Enough is enough already.

I would remind Mr. Kraig that the Honorable Jeffrey S. Many Solitary Witches and Wiccans practice Low Magick as well as many ancient Pagan (i.e., from L. paganus meaning "a countryman or country dweller") cultures did. Low Magick utilizes natural objects such as crystals, herbs, rocks, fire, air, earth, water, animal parts (i.e., not from sacrificial means but from the use of feathers, pelts, skins, horns, entrails, or bones found by a practitioner in the forest, fields, or grasslands), the weather, seasonal changes, or anything found within our environment and nature. It can be looked at as taking care of your physical earthly wants, needs, and desires such as love and relationships, money, health, personal protection and is generally short term.

Sympathetic Magick (a.k.a. Primitive or Imitative Magick) is a centuries old form of Low Magick based upon imitation and/or correspondence, practical experiences, and observations within the natural world of the past, present, and future. Imitation and correspondence are two key elements of this type of magick and represent a cause-and-effect relationship:

Imitation - refers to "like attracts or produces like" based upon the Law of Similarity where a spiritualist, for example, is able to produce any effect that she or he desires just by imitating the material object; i.e., the concept of an effect resembling its cause.

Correspondence - refers to objects having been in possession or contact with each other continue to react upon one another no matter the distance; this concept is based upon the Law of Contagion (Contact). A priestess, for instance, knows that whatever actions she performs upon or directs energy toward any material object will equally affect the individual who was once in contact with or possessed this object. This explains why practitioners of Applied Occult Metaphysics often use the personal effects of whom they are performing spellwork for; some of these personal items might include articles of clothing, hair, nail clippings, bodily fluids, photographs, or even jewelry. These items assist in empowering the spell and its potential outcome.

Also note, Sympathetic Magick is the foundation for most divinatory systems and practices where healing is concerned.

High Magick seeks to enhance your spiritual growth and development transcendentally and bring you closer to the deities; and has been claimed to have evolved from scholars and higher societies of people. This form of magick is highly used by practitioners of Kemeticism (Ancient Egyptian religion), Qabalism (Kabbalism), Enochian Magick, Tenebrae Artes (Dark Arts, Black Magick, or Infernal Sorcery), Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and Thelema (founded and further developed by Aleister Crowley) just to name a few. High Magick, in general, invokes great spiritual energy and power and usually does not concern itself with Nature. It uses complex rituals and symbolic invocations of deities, dramatic ceremonial wardrobe, and complex concoctions such as those used within Alchemy. Ceremonial or Ritual Magick is a good example of high magick and concerns itself with the conscious application of willpower to achieve one's individual or a group's spiritual objectives.

Both forms of magick can be quite useful, effective, and almost "equal" in their strength and purpose in order to achieve the intended results of the practitioner (e.g., a priest, priestess, shaman, magickian / magician, or alternative spiritualist).

Dr. Sahure is a senior researcher with the Antiquus Research Group and the author of many noteworthy essays and articles about a variety of topics and subjects, including herbalism, ancient history and mythology, ancient Egyptian religion (Kemeticism), metaphysical sciences, ancient religions and theology, astrology, tarot, and divination systems.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Dr"

Keywords: ordo templis orientis magic rituals of the kabbalah equinox of the gods love spell soap free astral projection does black magic exist buddhist meditation books on dream interpretation shamanic journeys
magichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11865414946868025409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4556812725036816318.post-20514986310454455912012-07-11T06:47:00.000-07:002012-10-27T22:25:28.372-07:00Magick Brief History Of The Qabbalah Part 3

"This is part 3 of the three part history of the Qabbalah. I hope that you enjoyed it."

5. Classical Qabbalism. From the 11th through the 17th centuries C.E. This period saw a four phase migration that witnessed periods of intellectual blossoming in Provence, Moorish and Christian Spain, Safed in Palestine, and finally, returning to Europe at the advent of the Renaissance. During this period there were also some calamities that afflicted various Jewish cultural centers, such as the Albigensian Crusade (1209 - 1229), the sack of Baghdad by Ikhanate Mongol forces in 1258, and the expulsion of Jews from Spain in 1492.

Despite the calamities that forced the Jewish peoples to relocate from one place to another, the study and spread of Qabbalah became much more wide-ranging than at any other time. It was also a period that saw an extensive development and evolution of ideas, when the Qabbalah started to become a solidified discipline, acquiring many of the features that occultists today would recognize. During this period, the study of Qabbalah supplanted previous forms of Jewish theology, and for a time, completely dominated Jewish religious thought. However, even as the Qabbalah became more accessible to Jewish lay scholars (and even Christian academics), it was still the provenance of a select few, even though that exclusivity began to evaporate by the beginning of the 16th century.

Provence: It was in this location that the classical Qabbalah had its true birth. Various writings, speculations and insights assembled from sources in the East (Baghdad) and from Germany (Worms) were used to write the first true Qabbalistic work, called the Sefer ha-Bahir, which was ostensibly an occult form of the Midrash, consisting of various commentaries on verses from the Torah, particularly those of a decided mystical or mythical nature. Many of the various speculations begun in the geonic period are given a greater development in the book of Bahir, particularly, the concept of the Shekinah as a distinct entity. Provence was where rabbinic culture achieved a high state of development, and many pagan philosophical works were translated, most notably by Judah ibn Tibben, and many of these translated works were from neoplatonic sources. It is here that gnostic speculation was fully wedded with neoplatonic philosophy within a Jewish religious framework. Qabbalistic practices focused on an emphasis of seeking communion with the Deity through meditation on the sephiroth and their occult analogues. Also, the concept of the Ain-Soph was developed as a way to explain the manifestation of the finite material world through the agency of an infinite and unmanifest Godhead. From Provence, the Qabblah spread to Spain via Catalonia.

Gerona, Toledo and Castile - Spanish Qabbalah: It was in Spain that the Qabbalah acquired its more modern qualities, and it was here that the Qabbalah split into three distinct schools, and where some of the scholars sought to bridge that split. Gerona was the first location to flower, establishing the basic structure and tenets that became the Classical Qabbalah. It was in Gerona that ecstatic tendencies were renewed and propagated. From this foundational school, two other opposing perspectives began to dominate the practice and teachings of Classical Qabbalah. On the one side presided what could be called the rational school of Qabbalah (Isaac ibn Latif), where its adherents sought to describe it through a more philosophical and mystical interpretation, removing the more occult elements and seeking to use a system of devotion and contemplation to realize the various tenets. They taught that the adherent should contemplate on the sacred names and letters to produce mystical states resulting in prophecy. The other side (Isaac ha-Kohen) was characterized by a school declaring the opposite perspective, that of gnostic theosophy, occult speculation and the deliberate practice of theurgy. It is from this more occult school that the speculations of a Tree of Evil (demonic emanations) began to be developed, which included the developing of a more systematic hierarchy of angelic and demonic spirits, as well as equating the Logos (as found in Greek philosophy) with a new angel called Metatron.

Zohar: this was the first successful attempt at producing a Qabbalistic Midrash. Moses de Leon wrote this monumental work in around 1281 as an attempt to mediate these three different schools into a single unified one, producing a work that merged rational philosophy with gnostic and occult insights and tenets. This work consisted of a vast multi volume set of homiletics on the Torah, the books of Song of Songs, Ruth and Lamentations. These were not comprehensive commentaries, but instead focused on strategic passages. The Zohar had the effect of producing a kind of uniquely Jewish theology, (even though it was wedded to tenets that were particularly uncanonical), and this helped to bring it into the mainstream of Jewish thought.

Safed: When the Jews were expelled from Spain in 1492, many of them found their way to Safed in Palestine, and also Italy. It was in Safed that Qabbalah acquired its messianic and apocalyptic qualities, and these were wedded to the core of its beliefs and tenets. It was also here that the Qabbalah found its greatest teacher and intellectual exponent (Isaac Luria) and began its powerful and compelling spread throughout the Jewish diaspora.

Isaac Luria Ashkenazi - the "Ari" Lion - (1534 - 1572): It was Luria who brought all of the various strains of Spanish Qabbalah together to synthesize it into a powerful modern religious system. Many of the idiosyncracies and philosophical problems in the Qabbalah were brilliantly and completely resolved by the writings and teachings of Luria. It was Luria who developed the concept of the sephiroth as divine personas, arranged them into three pillars (creating a cosmogonic dialectic) and saw them as the dynamically changing and evolving manifestation of the will and mind of the Deity. He also developed the notion of the four qabbalistic worlds, and resolved the issue of how the infinite unmanifest Godhead was able to create a finite material world through the mysterious artifice of contraction, concealment and veilings - the generation of a vacuum of empty space before creation.

Luria also developed the speculation that became the qliphoth, discussed the shattering of the six lower sephiroth above Malkuth (allowing for the incursion of evil), and the attribution of a mythic and psychological drama associated with the redemption of spiritual "sparks" of the individual human entity, now divided into four specific parts of the soul. His teachings had a powerful messianic quality, where he predicted that the messiah was immanent, and that event would also begin the ending of the world as the messiah recollected all of the spirits of humanity and delivered them up to the Deity. After his death, Luria's teachings, for a time, eclipsed all other teachings and became part of the Jewish mainstream. The messianic tensions found in his teachings, along with his various vague apocalyptic pronouncements, ultimately produced the heresies of the aborted Shabbatai Zevi messianic crusade (b. 1670 - d. 1730).

6. Period of Transference. From the 15th through 18th centuries. There are many indicators that Christians and occultists had been distilling the Jewish Qabbalah beginning from the time that it had emerged into Europe during the middle ages. An examination of Agrippa's work, the "Occult Philosophy," demonstrates that by 1531, the entire corpus of the Qabbalah (particularly the practical and occult practices) had already been thoroughly translated and dispersed by academics throughout most of Europe. This would lead one to conclude that various contents of the Zohar and the writings of Luria had been leaked or deliberately shared with sympathetic Christian scholars and occultists. It is also likely that various Jewish magical practices and techniques had also been appropriated by individuals in Christian circles. How and exactly when this occurred is unknown, but it was likely the impetus for the development of the Solomonic system of ceremonial magick. However, it was not until the year 1671 that Christian Knorr Von Rosenroth translated and published four books of the voluminous Zohar in Latin, making it available to nearly anyone who had at least a rudimentary education. Additionally, Rosenroth also published other translated Qabbalistic writings, and these included works by Luria. It's also likely that the spread of the Qabbalah within the Christian community also facilitated the spread of Qabbalah within the European Jewish community.

Decline of Jewish Qabbalah: After the failed messianism of Shabbatai Zevi, the Jewish Qabbalah began to slowly decline in the 18th century. It would seem that the harsh lesson of Shabbatai Zevi, and the obvious heterodoxic nature of the Qabbalah, caused it to become increasingly rejected by various orthodox groups, with the exception of the Hasidic Jews, where it continued to be practiced through the 19th century and even later.

7. The Modern Occult Qabbalah. From 19th to 20th centuries. In the mid 19th century, the scholarship of Eliphaz Levi, Papus and MacGregor Mathers determined the current structure of the Qabbalistic Tree of Life, and attributed the Tarot Trumps to the 22 Letters associated with the Pathways. MacGregor Mathers reintroduced the discipline of the practical Qabbalah, and translated the works of Von Rosenroth into English. Mathers was also responsible for either publishing or translating the Lesser and Greater Key of Solomon, the Grimmoire of Armadel, the Enochian magical system of Dr. John Dee, and the Sacred Book of Abramelin the Mage. The teachings of the Magickal Fraternity that he established (Golden Dawn) has influenced many subsequent students of the Qabbalah, including Aleister Crowley, W. E. Butler, Israel Regardie, Dion Fortune, William Grey, Gareth Knight and Kenneth Grant.

Mather's ground breaking work was taken up and developed by other occultists, who thereby brought it into the mainstream of occult beliefs and practices in the 20th and 21st centuries. Most notable for their contributions was Aleister Crowley, Dion Fortune and Israel Regardie, who distilled and advanced the basic Qabbalistic knowledge of the Golden Dawn so that it became more of a meta-system than a repository of Jewish gnostic and theosophic speculation. Like Mathers, these individuals intrinsically wedded the Qabbalah to the practice of Western Magic. Aleister Crowley was the first to publish the Golden Dawn Qabbalistic writings on gematria, tables of correspondence as well as his own writings and interpretations, and expounded on the Tarot as an adjunct to the Qabbalah, producing his own Tarot deck (Book of Thoth).

Dion Fortune blended many extensive theosophical speculations into the Qabbalah, and Paul Foster Case blended the Tarot with the Qabbalah, so that the Tarot was defined and given its meaning solely through Qabbalistic symbolism. W. E. Butler and Gareth Knight, who were both students of Dion Fortune, produced a correspondence course on the Qabbalah, and Knight later wrote a ground breaking text book (Practical Qabalistic Symbolism), one that most modern occultists have read and studied. William Grey wrote a concise work (Ladder of Lights) and established himself as one of the truly gifted occultists of the 20th century. He went on to write many more books about ceremonial magick and the Qabbalah. Israel Regardie developed and refined the Golden Dawn teachings of the Qabbalah, first put forward by Mathers and his associate, Westcott. Kenneth Grant sought to develop and integrate the qliphoth with the sephiroth, referring to it as the backside of the Tree of Life, and thus show the integral relativity of both the lefthand and right-hand occult paths.

RECAP OF THE OVERALL EVOLUTION OF THE QABBALAH

The first stage of the evolution of the Qabbalah concerned itself with various attempts to depict and conceptualize the powers and majesty of the Deity. It was not an idle process, since it was meant to allow for greater access and individual conscious assumption of the mysterious Hebrew Godhead. These intentions were hidden within mysticism, but early Judaism contended with the doctrine of an invisible and unknowable Deity amidst a plethora of highly represented pagan deities, both gods and goddesses. The concept of Elohim (gods) as one of the representations of this Deity clearly shows the probable amalgamation of many deities into the one, ultimately called Yahweh. The Hebrew nation did not become truly monotheistic until later in their history (possibly 6th or even 5th century B.C.E), and so there was always a tendency for polytheism inherent in Judaism. When the orthodox doctrine of monotheism (there is only one God) finally became enforced, the tendency to polytheism found other avenues, particularly in the areas of mysticism and the illicit practice of ritual and ceremonial magick. Access to the powers and glories of a monotheistic Deity was expressly forbidden by the cannon of the law and established traditions, but the Merkabah and Heikhalot systems of mysticism and magick certainly allowed speculation and practices that were essentially heretical in nature.

The impact of Greek philosophy and Gnosticism on Jewish thought has been little noted in Jewish mystical circles, particularly in regards to the origins of the Qabbalah. While it is certainly true that Jewish writers such as Philo were later discredited and ignored by the scholars of the Talmudic period, non Jewish systems of theosophy and theurgy continued to invade the fringes of Jewish thought. The core doctrines and beliefs of the Qabbalah were developed long after similar speculation had already been written down and established in philosophical and gnostic circles. Still, the Qabbalah was a very tight synthesis of traditional Jewish thought and Greek philosophy; but it remained on the fringes of scholastic writings and the established traditions and liturgies of the rabbinic culture until the late Renaissance. It was almost as if one had to be both a Jew and a Qabbalist, since they were not synonymous. The middle ages saw great Qabbalistic works written, such as the Zohar, but there were other works created, like the Sword of Solomon, the Sepher ha-Ratziel, and the Book of Abramelin, which represented the magickal practices of the Qabbalah. These magickal works, or grimoires, and their associated theosophical and occult speculation represented a problem with the emergence of the Qabbalah as a system of Jewish theology. It was due largely to these and other excesses that Judaism narrowed its accepted practices, which lead to the eventual abandonment of the Qabbalah as a Jewish religious tradition. The Jewish Qabbalah was just too prone to uncanonical practices and heresy, and seemed to advocate highly unacceptable religious speculation.

During the late middle ages, the doctrines and beliefs of the Qabbalah began to filter into the scholarly world of Christian Europe, and by the 19th century, it had been completely taken over and made into an occult doctrine. The greatest contributions to the works of the Qabbalah were made in the middle to late 19th century, and these were made by individuals who were not practitioners of Judaism. Certainly, the evolution and derivation of the Qabbalah from its Hebrew source did not allow it to be easily reintegrated into Jewish religious doctrine, and so there are now at least two versions of the Qabbalah, since the resurgence of its study in the present age was promoted first by adherents of the Hasadim, and then by others, which caused some orthodox and reformed Jews to return to and expand on the earlier writings of Isaac Luria, and many others.

Modern occultists are divided as to whether the Qabbalah should be used for meditation and contemplation only, or with the inclusion of ritual and ceremonial magick. Certainly Mathers and Crowley proposed the full incorporation of the Qabbalah when they wrote their books, formulated their rituals and ceremonies, and taught these practices to their students; but others have moved away from the practice of magick as being too controversial and prone to heretical practices and derivations. Still, for practicing ritual magicians, the Qabbalah is of critical importance. I would therefore recommend that it should be studied and mastered by all occult students, used in meditation, contemplation and employed to construct magickal rituals and ceremonies. I am recommending such an extensive use so that the various symbolic archetypes and spiritual hierarchy might become internally available to the seeker to experience and fully realize in a very direct and immediate fashion. In this manner, the Qabbalah becomes a real and living process that illuminates the spiritual and allegorical domains, and reveals the various qualities of the Deity and the fate of humankind. Therefore as a practice, it will lead to the highest possible states of spiritual illumination.

I hope this brief historical analysis has assisted you in realizing that the Qabbalah is an ever evolving discipline that has undergone a considerable amount of change and revision over the centuries. However, formulations of a kind of gnostic inspired theosophy as well as the continued use of the Qabbalah in various methods and techniques of ritual and ceremonial magick have been a constant factor in the evolution of this discipline. Anyone who seeks to divorce the heterodoxic nature of the Qabbalah, or to refute its use and application in forms of theurgy are promoting an egregious falsehood that belies its history, essential nature and practical use.

Frater Barrabbas

magichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11865414946868025409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4556812725036816318.post-18475943474631031812012-07-07T06:29:00.000-07:002012-10-26T06:06:07.271-07:00Galangal And Aleister Crowley

The Poisoner's Apothecary is a section of Forest Grove Botanica filled with things I can't sell in my Etsy shop - specimens, tinctures, and smoking blends of legal psychoactive herbs and well-known poisons. New offerings include a Smoking Blend Sampler of my three magical herbal smoking blends (Hedgecrosser's Smoke, Love Smoke, & Visions of the Seer), as well as Calamus and Galangal root tinctures. Calamus or sweetflag is a Native American shaman's root ingested for flying, but it is also found elsewhere around the world and even turns up in an oil recipe in the Old Testament.

Galangal root originates from Asia and is closely related to ginger meaning my Galangal tincture tastes quite pleasant. Galagal was a favourite of Aleister Crowley who recommended its use for communing with familiar spirits. It also happens to be a mild hallucinogen. The last in my tincture trio is Mandragora. It was carefully measured so you can't overdose even if you drink the whole bottle (which I still don't recommend). Even though most witches think of Mandrake in association with salves, it is actually better suited for extraction in water or alcohol with very careful dosage.

I've made another batch of Aves Salve with magical and psychoactive herbs simmered in rich duck fat. I have it available in the regular 2oz jars and, also for the first time, in half ounce sample size jars for the witch on a budget or for those who just want to test it out.

Here is was Dver over at A Forest Door had to say about my Aves Salve:

"I bought some Aves Salve from you about a month ago. I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with it. I honestly didn't know what to expect, never having used anything like it. I have used it three times now - each time has only been more powerful than the last, and I look forward to doing more with it in the future. It feels like putting on a mask or holy costume for possession or shapeshifting work, but all encapsulated in a simple dab of salve."

"As much spirit-work as I do, I still actually maintain a dose of skepticism about any new tool or practice until I see some proof of its efficacy, and am not overly-eager (as some are) to claim a sense of spirit or energy in everything I touch. But this really blows me away. So I wanted to say thank you, and to let you know I really appreciate the work you do."

I am also working on a new traditional flying ointment based on a recipe for a shapeshifting-flying ointment from Giovan Battista Della Porta's "De Miraculis Rerum Naturalium" ("Natural Magic") from 1558. It includes Henbane, Mandrake, Datura, and Belladonna. I added balm of gilead for preservation and because it's quite traditional to flying ointments and is included in other recipes Porta gives in his work. I grew the Henbane and Datura this summer, the Belladonna was from a friend who grew it, and I had to outsource the Mandrake root. Once I'm able to test this batch to see if my dosages were correct, I hope to make another version using the more traditional hog's lard as the base instead of olive oil.

I hope to have more offerings for my witchy head shop soon including absinthe and sabbat wine infusion kits with psychoactive herbs as well as more poisonous specimens.

Keywords: tarot deck a love spell marseille tarot deck real love spell casters the book of law love spell voodoo hoodoo candle magic how do you astral travel psychic tarot reading chakra bracelet
magichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11865414946868025409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4556812725036816318.post-16219956126816084822012-07-01T11:59:00.000-07:002012-10-26T03:57:56.486-07:00Hermetic And Rosicrucian Roots Of The Golden Dawn

Easter Sunday, 4/12/2009

Happy Easter Brothers and Sisters of the Golden Dawn of all Orders and Temples!

May the light of the Rose+Cross shine brightly today upon all of us. I am sorry it took me so long to follow up since my return from the Ahathoor Temple No. 7 in Paris last Monday. This week has been a wirlwind since my return and I wanted to have everything ready to share with you on Easter Sunday. Well, here it is.

In reality, I did not go to Paris merely for the Equinox Ritual at the Ahathoor Grand Temple of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Actually the Ahathoor Mother Temple was host to the 100 Year Centennial Jubileum Celebration of S.L. MacGregor Mathers' founding the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega in 1909.

This year's International Conclave was for the Second Order and above, so we convoked the International College of the Adepti of the Alpha et Omega as well. The festivities lasted several days as we initiated in all grades of the Second Order and there were marvelous lectures from four separate A.O. Imperators!

The good news for you is that this time we filmed everything - so now you can also be a part of this exiting event - even if you were unable to be there with us in Paris! I opened the conference by greeting our Brothers and Sisters of the Golden Dawn around the world. Here is the video of the opening festivities (note that the speeches always follow bits of ritual):

Here you will enjoy more ritual, and information about the Hermetic and Rosicrucian Roots of the Golden Dawn.

Many of you read the recent weblog I wrote upon my return from Paris. Unsurprisingly, I was once again attacked on an anonymous blog, this time criticized by a post alleging that the Ahathoor Temple in Paris today is not the temple that S.L. MacGregor Mathers founded in 1892.

Well, the truth is usually far more interesting than anonymous, strife stirring rumor, and the modern history of the Ahathoor temple certtainly fits this criteria! In fact, Jean-Pascal Ruggiu, G.H. Frater Lux Aurorae, gave a fascinating lecture about how his research into the history of the Ahathoor Temple led him to Marquis Tereschenko, who eventually reconsecrated Ahathoor Temple in 1992.

I don't want to ruin this fascinating story for you, as here is G.H. Frater Lux Aurorae to tell you the whole story himself:

Next, we were all treated to a wonderful lecture on the Gold und Rosenkreutz order and the Rosicrucian roots of the Golden Dawn in Germany by V.H. Frater D.L.M., the Imperator of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn(R) for German speaking countries:

Few people realize that the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn's Imperator for Scandinavia, V.H. Frater Sincerus Renatus, actually was born in Poland. Ever true to these roots, V.H. Frater Sincerus Renatus, has a particular love for the Qabalah of the Shabbathaian movement in messianic Judaism, particualrly as it filtered down with the followers of Jaqob Frank. The story of the Qabalistic Roots of the Golden Dawn is a particularly fascinating one, involving many of the leading figures from this movement who found their way into the Order of the Asiatic Brethren, then later into the Jewish Lodge at Frankfurt, the famous, Zur Goldenen Morgonroethe Lodge. VH Frater Sincerus Renatus' lecture on the Qabalistic roots of the Golden Dawn is bound to become a classic, and adds many pieces to the jigsaw puzzle of the Continental European origins of the Golden Dawn.

Finally, the International Conclave of the Adepti and the 100 Year Jubileum concluded with my keynote address on the Emerald Tablet of Hermes, the Hermetic Tradition, and the Golden Dawn. Since there has been so much controversy surrounding the Emerald Teblet of Hermes since the recent translation by Nineveh Shadrach of the Magic Society of the White Flame, I thus attempted to shed new light on the Emerald Tablet, as revealed by Apollonius of Tyana's Book of Causes, in which the earliest extant version of the Emerald Tablet was originally published, together valuable commentaries essential to its proper understanding.

It is my sincere hope that some of the factionalism between Golden Dawn orders and temples will now die down, so that at our next International Golden Dawn Conclave ALL brothers and sisters of the Golden Dawn may attend, regardless of what order or temple you belong to. This was the dream of our cherished, late Praemonstrator, Marquis Nicholas Tereschenko, and perhaps we will yet see his dream realized in our lifetime.

Until then, we are this year at least able to share these precious videos with you!

Sub Umbra Alarum Tuarum, Yeheshua

David Griffin

G.H.
