The 7witches Coven is fortunate in that each of our members has the luxury of a space they can use specifically for Magickal work. In addition to this, we also have our Group Temple. We understand, however, that for many this is not possible. It is far more likely that you will need to designate a smaller area for your work. This is especially true if you share your home with others.
Here are a few suggestions that will help you create a Sacred Space.
1. CHOOSE A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN REMAIN UNDISTURBED.
A spare bedroom or rather large closet works very well. If you have a spare room which can be locked from within, so much the better. Sometimes the best way to prevent interruptions is to simply tell those in your home that you need some solitude for a time and ask that they not disturb you. It is not necessary to discuss the exact nature of your work; simply explain that you have set aside a time for daily meditation.
2.USE A BEDSIDE ALTAR.
This is a wonderful solution for those who do not have a spare room. You can simply convert the nightstand beside your bed into an altar during your Magickal work. When not in use, store your candles, incense and other tools in the drawer of your nightstand. It is a simple matter to quickly set up this type of altar and conduct your meditations and visualizations from your bedroom.
3. WORK OUTSIDE.
Many Witches prefer to do this as a matter of course; it is a wonderful feeling to practice in a small clearing or garden. You can even become very creative and add flowers, stones, or other natural elements.
The important thing is that you do not allow the absence of a place dedicated solely to the Art to prevent your work. It is very nice to have such a place, but you can develop your spiritual senses anywhere that feels comfortable to you and is removed from the distractions of the mundane world.
