Independent Aa Lineages

Independent Aa Lineages Cover
Aleister Crowley released all of his A.A. material to the world. The information was never meant to remain hidden. He did this for one major reason. He believed that if a person never had the opportunity to meet someone within the Order, they could, in theory, do the practices and make the connections themselves to the current which animates the Order. The only requirement being, "success is thy proof."

Only one of the many independent lineages shall be mentioned because it is somehow connected to the new 'Caliphate'.

In 1981, Michael D. Eschner, a re-incarnation of Aleister Crowley, founded the A.A. in Berlin, Germany. Towards the end of that year, Marcus M. Jungkurth became a Neophyte and in autumn 1982 he reached the grade of Zelator and worked as a "2. Vorsitzender" for the incorporated version of this A.A.. At one time, he had contacted a lawyer re the question of copyrights and eventually 'translated' 15 of Crowley's books into German (several people think he simply copied Metzger's earlier translations) which still can be bought in every occult bookstore. In Summer 1983, Jungkurth moved into the Abbey Thelema in Berlin where he led a group of candidates. Today, members recall that his appearance was like a "mystic" which was very attractive for newcomers.
But one day in Autumn 1983, Jungkurth had vanished overnight.
Eventually, Eschner (like H.J. Metzger in the early 1970s) became the focus of the media as members filed suit against him. Jungkurth then served as a loyal witness for Eschner and his testimony proved very positive for him. Nevertheless, in 1987, the Court found Eschner guilty.

In the meantime, Jungkurth became a member of the 'Caliphate' on 18 July 1987. He moved rapidly upwards and is currently a IX°. Since David Scriven's wife, Helena, resigned in 1999, Jungkurth is now the Secretary General. As he had inherited some money at the end of the 80s (his father had been a general in the German army) and is working for a large chemistry firm, his public appearance is serious, which is considered perfect for membership fishing.

The Supreme Invocation To The Lord Of The Universe

The Supreme Invocation To The Lord Of The Universe Cover
Issued by the Thelemic Temple and Order of the Golden Dawn (Novus Ordo Aureae Aurora). For daily use of the Magician

Adoration be unto Thee, Lord of my Life: for Thou hast permitted me to enter thus far into the Sanctuary of Thine Ineffable Mystery; and hast vouchsafed to manifest unto me some little fragment of the Glory of Thy Supreme Being. Hear me, Thou Vast and Mighty One; hear me, and grant that my Will be done! Grant that I may ever uphold and exercise Thine Holy Way of Liberty, as a god who is free to do his True Will amongst the legions of the living; and grant unto me the comprehension of aught that may bring me nearer unto Thee. Teach me, Lord Horus, more and more of Thy Mystery and Thy Mastery. Let each day and night and hour bring me nearer, near unto Thee. Let me aid Thee in Thy Great Work upon earth, so that I may one day become truly united unto Thee in all Thy Infinite Glory of Light, Life, Love and Liberty.

Come Thou forth unto me, O Thou Mighty and Vast One, that art the Lord of the Aeon, Thou Supreme and Terrible God who makest the gods and death to tremble before Thee, and whose Law is Do What Thou Wilt. O Thou Heart of my Soul: O Thou Self-Shining Flame: O Thou Glory of the Light of the Sun: Thee, Thee, I invoke! Come Thou forth unto me, my Lord; to me, who am Thy vain reflection in the mighty sea of matter. O hear me, Thou Lord of the Gods: hear me in the habitations of Eternity: and come Thou forth unto me to purify and consecrate to Thy Great Work my mind and will. Without Thee I am nothing. In Thee I am All-Self Existing in Thy Selfhood to Eternity!

Come Thou forth unto me, O Thou Most Hidden Light! O Thou Heart of my Soul, Thee, Thee, I invoke! Come Thou forth unto me, O Thou who art my very Selfhood, mine Essence, my Light; and do Thou guard me and guide me through the manifold paths of Life, that I may at length become one with Thy Supreme and Terrible Essence! O Lord of the Universe, grant Thou that upon me may shine forth the Light of my True Soul; and let me be guided by the help of mine Holy Angel unto the attainment of Thy Throne of Glory.

And for this day, teach me this one thing: how I may learn from Thee the Mysteries of Thy Sacred Magick of Thelema: that I may obtain the Knowledge and Power of my True Will, and thus attain to the Knowledge and Conversation of mine Holy Guardian Angel; and how best I may use that Knowledge and Power to assist my fellow men and women to accomplish Thy Great Work upon earth.

And finally, I implore Thee, to let there be a link of unity between us, that I may ever seek, and seeking, obtain Freedom and Knowledge in Thee who art my very Selfhood, that I may duly partake of Thy Supreme Essence of Power to attain the Grand Philosopher's Stone, the Summum Bonum, True Wisdom and Perfect Happiness.

O Lord, may my Will which is Thine be done!

Liber 418 The Vision And The Voice

Liber 418 The Vision And The Voice Cover

Book: Liber 418 The Vision And The Voice by Aleister Crowley

The Vision and the Voice (Liber 418) chronicles the mystical journey of Aleister Crowley (1875–1947) as he explored the 30 Enochian ?thyrs originally developed by Dr. John Dee and Edward Kelley in the 16th century. These visions took place at two times: in 1900 during his stay in Mexico, and later in 1909 in Algeria (along with his magical companion, Victor Benjamin Neuburg). Of all his works, Crowley considered this book to be second in importance behind The Book of the Law, the text that established his religious and philosophical system of Thelema in 1904.

The Vision and the Voice is the source of many of the central spiritual doctrines of Thelema, especially in the visions of Babalon and her consort Chaos (the "All-Father"), as well as an account of how an individual ego might cross the Abyss, thereby assuming the title of "Master of the Temple" and taking a place in the City of the Pyramids under the Night of Pan. Why You Must Write Bad Magic Reviews

Why You Must Write Bad Magic Reviews Image
"One of the reasons that Red Wheel/Weiser rejected my Operant Magick" was that they were concerned the material in the book was too advanced for a general audience. That is, they felt a rank beginner who knew nothing about ritual magick would be confused by some of the ideas presented therein. This is in fact probably the case, and I was very clear about it in the introduction to the book. I even recommended that rank beginners start with some sort of introductory book before moving on to mine, carefully explaining that the book did assume some level of familiarity with the concepts of ritual magick.

Personally, I have little interest in writing some sort of introduction to magick book with a whole chapter devoted to "is magick evil?" or other similar nonsense. Anybody who worries that magick might be evil and needs reassurance shouldn't practice it - such individuals are either too bound by religious conditioning to get much out of the discipline or are simply too stupid to comprehend many of the basic concepts that must be understood by any successful practitioner. An individual of the first sort might be able to practice magick successfully, but only after working through their conditioning loops and hopefully replacing them with more adaptive ones. An individual of the second sort is best off leaving magick alone entirely.

The idea that every book needs to be accessible to everyone, regardless of background, has resulted in an occult marketplace that is glutted with beginner-level material. Practitioners like myself have complained for years that there are no advanced or even intermediate level books being published on a regular basis. My goal in writing a more advanced book was to fill this gap. Certainly there must be enough serious practitioners in the world to support the sales of at least a few titles! Since all of the beginner titles are in competition with each other, it seems to me that you might be able to sell more books as the author of one of five available advanced books rather than one of five hundred available beginner books. Basic economics, that, but I was unable to convince the folks at Red Wheel/Weiser that this justified publishing the book. Perhaps they were really just worried about seeing book reviews like this one.

Some background - Frater Barrabbas is a friend of mine who recently published his second book, "Mastering the Art of Ritual Magick, Volume 1: Foundation", an actual intermediate-to-advanced level title broken up into three volumes of which this is the first. As far as I can tell this reviewer picked up the book expecting it to be a beginner's guide, got all confused when, well, it wasn't, and proceeded to slam it on that basis.

What is needed is a clear, welcoming book that sets out the basic principles of ritual magic at the beginning, moving coherently through the most useful techniques such as breathwork, visualization, yoga, and the direction of energy, and giving plenty of practical exercises to do along the way. We need a sensible guide that leads you through safely, securely, and with a solid foundation in common sense understanding of why these things are as they are.

So is the reviewer's point that the hundreds of books in print covering this material from a beginner's perspective all suck? Every single one of them? I find that pretty hard to believe - I've come across at least a few that I consider decent for what they are. But unfortunately making a book "clear" and "welcoming" often has the added effect of dumbing down the material.

This is everything that Mastering the Art of Ritual Magick is not.

But do we really need 501 beginner-level books rather than 500?

Never before have I emerged from a book on this subject so confused and alienated - even after reading Crowley!

As far as Aleister Crowley goes, I don't know what the reviewer found confusing but a lot of Crowley's stuff is not that difficult. You can actually train yourself to become a competent ritual magician with a copy of "Liber O vel Manus et Sagittae", all of 13 pages long in print, and the tables from "Liber 777". There's more advanced material in his works, of course, but those two texts are really all you need to get started on your practices.

The title of this book, by Frater Barrabas

Note that the reviewer didn't even read the book closely enough to spell the author's name correctly. It's BARRABBAS.

suggests to the casual observer that it is a beginner's guide of some kind, or is the first in a series of books that will focus on giving the reader a solid foundation of practice, theory, and experience.

In fact, it isn't, as the quick Amazon search that the reviewer obviously neglected to do would have revealed. Frater Barrabbas' first book, "Disciple's Guide to Ritual Magick", is in fact the "beginner book" of the series. From the reviewer's comments and background it's clear that she should have started the series there.

However, I found this title extremely misleading as throughout the book Frater Barrabas writes about techniques and theories that he barely touches upon: they are briefly mentioned, almost like one might name-drop a famous author you know very little about but whose name sounds impressive in your work, but not discussed at any great length.

One might think that "mastering" in the title would suggest that the book is not for the "casual observer," but to be fair the occult market is full of books with similar titles that promise all sorts of "mastery" and then open with yet another exposition of the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. Furthermore, I would point out that much of the material "touched upon" is (1) in the beginner book, which the reviewer clearly did not read, and (2) is mentioned briefly because if every technique mentioned in the book was given the full "beginner book" treatment the damn thing would be over a thousand pages long. Furthermore, toward the end of the review we find this comment:

Overall, Mastering the Art of Ritual Magick presents material that is not new (although Frater B. declares it to be in his Foreword, in which he also states that the material in the book was "too advanced" to be published ten years ago...)

And yet the reviewer expects the book to be totally comprehensible to a beginner with no background in ritual magick? Or does the term "advanced" not mean what she thinks it means? For the record, there is a fair amount of original material in the book, but perhaps the reviewer was too unfamiliar with the Golden Dawn/Crowley school of ritual magick to realize that. I found this comment telling as well:

For instance, the chapter entitled "Ritual Performance" looked promising, and I was hoping to read a thorough examination of how to make ritual look pretty, sound effective - the theatrics of magic. Indeed, Frater Barrabas mentions it briefly at the beginning of the chapter, but the rest of it is taken up by stuff that should have been discussed earlier in the work: ecstatic dance techniques (should have accompanied the section on trance), drawing lines of force, and circumambulations

Ritual magick is not psychodrama and it's not theater, despite some overlap between theatrical and magical methods. Way too many people in the occult community make that mistake. Magick is a technology that you use to produce specific results - change in conformity with will. It's not something that you put on for your friends so they can tell you how cool and magical you are. Combining the various energy-raising techniques and methods for drawing lines of force is exactly what "ritual performance" should consist of. It doesn't really matter how a ritual looks or sounds to an outside observer as long as it gets the job done.

So when I finally do get my book published, is putting up with bad reviews like this what I have to look forward to? Probably. Hopefully as more intermediate-to-advanced books become available reviewers will start to figure out that these books need to be reviewed by an expert in the field. I mean, this particular reviewer is a 24-year-old Pagan Tarot reader who practices Vodou. That gives her expertise in ritual magick how? You would never see anything similar going on with academic or scientific writing, and once we get past the "beginners only" mindset of the major publishers I hope that the review process for magical writing will evolve along the same lines.

VALERIA MESSALINA

Thelemic Saint born January 25, 20 Era Vulgari

93

Pliny the Elder writes of Valeria Messalina -- whose birthday on January 25th was a Roman feast day - in "Natural History", Book X, ch.83:

"Messalina, the wife of Claudius Caesar, thinking this a palm quite worthy of an empress, selected, for the purpose of deciding the question, one of the most notorious of the women who followed the profession of a hired prostitute; and the empress outdid her, after continuous intercourse, night and day, at the twenty-fifth embrace."

Sheila White playing Messalina in the 1976 BBC series," I, Claudius".

Aleister Crowley, in "Alice, An Adultery" (Society for the Propagation of Religious Truth, 1905 E.V., p.3), dedicated a poem to her:

"Beneath the living cross I lie
And swoon towards eternity:
Prodigious sinewy shapes, and lean,
And curving limbs of Messaline.

"The deep arched eyes, the floating mane,-
One pierces, one wraps-in my brain:
A crown of thorn, a spear of clean
Cold fire of dying Messaline.

"Swart tangles of devouring hair,
The scorpion labyrinth and snare,
Leprous entaglements of sense,
The Imminence of the Immense.
And in the deep hard breath I draw
Kissed from her strangling mouth and maw,
I feel the floating deaths that dwell
About that citadel of hell:
A soft lewd flavour, an obscene
Mysterious self of Messaline.

"Or, in the kisses that swoop low
To catch my breath and kill me so,
I feel the ghostliness of this
Unreal shuttle-game-the kiss!
Her moving body sobs above,
And calls its lechery true love.
Out from the flame of heart she plucks
One flower of fiery light, and sucks
Its essence up within her lips.
And flings it into mine, and dips
And bends her body, writhes and swims
To link the velvet of our limbs,
My drouthy passion worn and keen,
And lusty life of Messaline.

"The heart's blood in her boiling over
She sucked from many a dying lover:
The purple of her racing veins
Leapt from some soul's despairing pains.
She drinks up life as from a cup;
She drains our health and builds it up
Into her body; takes our breath,
And we-we dream not it is death!
Arm unto arm and eye to eye,
Breast to great breast and thigh to thigh.
We look, and strain, and laugh, and die.
I see the head hovering above
To swoop for cruelty or love;
I feel the swollen veins below
The knotted throat: the ebb and flow
Of blood, not milk, in breasts of fire:
Of deaths, not fluctuants, of desire:
Of molten lava that abides
Deep in the vast volcanic sides;
Deep scars where kisses once bit in
Below young mountains that be twin,
Stigmata cruciform of sin,
The diary of Messaline.

"The moving mountains crater-crowned;
The valleys deep and silver-bound:
The girdle treacherously wound;
One violet-crested mounded mole,
Some blood-stain filtered from the soul;
The light and shadow shed between
My soul and God from Messaline.

"And even as a dark and hidden
Furnace roars out in woods forbidden,
A sullen tide of molten steel
Runs from deep furrows in the wheel;
So from afar one central heat
Sends the loud pulse to fever beat;
So from one crown and heart of fire
Spring the vast phantoms of desire,
Impossible and epicene,
Familiar souls of Messaline.

"And as, when thunder broods afar
Imperial destinies of war
Men see the haze and heat, and feel
The sun's rays like a shaft of steel.
Seeing no sun; even so the night
Clouds that deep miracle from sight:
Until this destiny be done
Hangs the corona on the sun;
And I absorbed in those unclean
Ghost-haunted veins of Messaline."

Happy birthday, Valeria Messalina, truly one of the avatars of Babalon in ancient times.

"I am above you and in you. My ecstasy is in yours. My joy is to see your joy." ("Liber Legis", 1:13)

"I love you! I yearn to you! Pale or purple, veiled or voluptuous, I who am all pleasure and purple, and drunkenness of the innermost sense, desire you. Put on the wings, and arouse the coiled splendour within you: come unto me!" ("Liber Legis", 1:61)

Circulation Of The Body Of Light

Circulation Of The Body Of Light Cover
1- Do Relaxation Ritual, LBRP, and the Middle Pillar Ritual, but do not have the Middle Pillar vanish.

2- Visualize Keter sending current of energy down into your head and to the left shoulder. Let it go down the left side of your body and up your right, back to Keter. When you exhale, feel the energy going down your left side, inhale, then feel it go up your right side. Move the energy with your breath for six to ten cycles. You may expand or contract the energy.

3- Now direct the energy so that as you exhale, it goes down your front. Inhale, and it goes up your back to Keter.

4- Re-visualize the Middle Pillar and focus on Mahl-Koot. Visualize the energy spiraling from your right foot, up around your left leg, and so on, until it reaches Keter. There, it explodes and falls back to Mahl-Koot, and begins again. Inhale, rise, exhale, and explode. You should do six to then cycles of this. After you finish your cycles, take a deep breath and see it disappear, but know that it is still there. Finish by doing the Tarot Contemplation Ritual.

Thelema Mabon

Thelema Mabon Image
This year Mabon, the Autumnal Equinox, occurs on Friday the 23rd, but like many Pagans I celebrate Mabon on a convenient day between the 20th-23rd. I will be doing most of my celebrations this evening by meditating, and doing divination.

Mabon is a celebration of the harvest and marks the changing of the seasons as the official start of Autumn. Here in Seattle we're enjoying our last days of warmth and sunshine before the inevitable beginning of the rainy season. Soon having warm, dry toes will be but memory. Even though it's still warm out, the shift towards Autumn is quite obvious if you look for the signs - trees are beginning to lose their leaves, the mornings are chill, and (most tellingly) it's dark when I leave for work.

For some Autumn is a time of sadness as children trudge back to school and we say farewell to the easy summer weather - not for me. I love Autumn. When I feel that cool, crisp wind coming down from the North I feel excited and invigorated. I love watching the sun rise in a clouded sky. I love hearing leaves crunch under my feet. I love the smell of mulling apples. I even love the first Autumn rains. But the most important things about the change from summer to fall, for me at least, is that it's the time when my magick comes alive. As a shadow worker most of what I do stays pretty dormant over the summer and it's not until we shift from the light half of the year to the dark that I feel compelled to do magick. I can feel the shift in the air. I can feel dark magicks waking up and tapping on my windows. I love it!

So yes, I celebrate the harvest on Mabon, but that's not all. For me Mabon is a celebration of re-awakening and growing power. It's the time when I get to go out and dance in friendly energies at midnight - my reward for waiting patiently and being good since the Spring. I'll spend tonight meditating on my plans for the next few months and doing divination to guide me along my path. I don't do any major rituals or spells on Mabon - those wait for Samhain. Instead I like to spend this holiday quietly, just enjoying the energy and letting my hair down. The time for my major works is coming all too soon, so I like to enjoy the last of my lazy days.

On Friday I'm taking the Spirits of Seattle ghost tour, so look for a report on that next Monday.

Thelema Love Magick

Thelema Love Magick Image
We've all seen in the movies where the desperate girl goes to the witch or the sorceress and asks her for a love potion to make the man she loves fall for her...

Is it right to do? Would you do it? Who does it harm? Who ends up getting hurt?

Love magick is an interesting, problematic and debatable subject. These are my thoughts:

If you were to use a love spell or potion to draw a specific person to you then surely you are manipulating that person? Making them do something that is against their own free will? And that goes against the witches rede "do what you will, but harm to none".

Personally before I undertake a love spell, or indeed any spell come to that I ask myself does this fall in line with the rede?

Questions for you - What is my intent in performing this work? Is this spell influenced by anger, hatred, lust, greed, jealousy or envy?

If your answer is yes, then if you follow the rede you must (said in a loud boomy voice)...'step away from the spell'.

A true witch that follows the rede would not use manipulative magick to negatively influence another person for their own personal gain. One of the main ideals of this path is to live in harmony and balance with the natural rhythms of life, not to manipulate them for selfish ends.

If you proceed with the spell regardless of the rede, then you are playing with the forces of the threefold law and erring on the side of dark magick - on your own head be it!

Once you have created and released this energy, it will acquire life, form and substance. It will run it's course, and the final outcome through the laws of cause and effect may not be what you wanted. The potential for great harm to both yourself and others is very evident in such a working.

I will re-iterate these are my views on the subject, others may think differently. But for me? It ain't worth it!

Who would want a lover that was brought to you falsely anyway?

However, on the positive side of love magick - I do believe in helping the universe to provide love in your life.

A love spell or working to bring love generally into your life

To bring happiness and harmony to a relationship you already have

To offer out to the universe a 'shopping list' of characteristics you would like a new partner to have

All fine, none of those go against the rede or play dangerously with the threefold law. Those intents are all put out there for the universe to deal with, and don't target a specific persons free will.

With Valentines Day coming up - bring some love into your life!

Golden Dawn Witch Hunt Revealed

Golden Dawn Witch Hunt Revealed Image
This week's announcement of the Secret College of the Adepti of the Golden Dawn caused a major earthquake in the esoteric community. Privately, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with Adepts secretly contacting the Alpha Omega from across the Golden Dawn community discretely seeking advanced R.R. et A.C. training and magical practice beyond the well known material published by Israel Regardie where other Golden Dawn orders leave off.

The corrupt Golden Dawn Chiefs and Hierophants who had been stifling their Adepts spiritual development by forbidding them access to any traditional Golden Dawn magic beyond published material have not been so happy, however. They have reacted angrily, accusing the A.O. of a whole host of things. The comments section of the Secret College article virtually exploded with hate filled posts from "anonymous" trolls.

There was clearly an initial, overly emotional reaction. This led to a few slip ups and surprising revelations. Here is a brief summary.

1. Leonard Stevens writes: "Last year Nick Farrell told me that "He had been ordered to not to associate with me, because I had aligned myself with Griffin." This statement is conclusive proof that leaders of allegedly independent Golden Dawn groups are taking orders "from other parties," further implicating the Dark Hand of SRIA polarizing and stirring strife in a totalitarian attempt to seize control of the Golden Dawn The segregationist SRIA and ORC hate and isolate the Alpha Omega because we fight for the rights of Pagans, Jews, Muslims, and Thelemites in the Golden Dawn. The below picture aptly summarizes the extreme level of manipulation of the Golden Dawn by the WASP Supremacist SRIA:

KKK and SRIA: Extremist Christianity Unmasked

2. An anonymous SRIA troll admits SRIA is forbidding Golden Dawn Adepts to come into contact with the spiritual practices beyond Adeptus Minor (5=6) coming from the legitimate Secret Chiefs.

3. An anonymous SRIA troll admits SRIA has been using SRIA archives to attack the Alpha Omega - and threatens a new book attacking the A.O. with documents from SRIA archives.

The SRIA WASP Supremacist Witch Hunt against the Pagan-led Alpha Omega is but a continuation of Centuries of persecution of Pagans and Jews by Christian and political extremists.

Religion Belief Spiritualism And Feminism Changing Humanity Together Image
What do Spritualism, s'eances and the first wave of feminism have in common? According to Janet Hosmer, the Spiritualist movement that began in the middle of the 19th century might have played a supporting role in the battle for women's rights.
Spiritualism & Feminism - Changing Humanity Together
by Janet Hosmer, Ph.D.
The religion now known as "Modern Spiritualism" officially and literally burst through to the world in the small village of Hydesville, New York, late in March of 1848. The phenomena that began when young sisters Maggie and Kate Fox reported "rappings" on the walls of their home, has grown into a religion that currently, according to the International Spiritualist Federation, has both individual and group members in over 35 countries worldwide. The National Spiritualist Association of Churches (NSAC), describes the religion on their website as follows, "Spiritualism is the science, philosophy, and religion of continuous life, based upon the demonstrated fact of communication, by means of mediumship, with those who live in the spirit world. Spiritualism is founded upon a Declaration of Principles, nine in number, received from the spirit world by means of mediumship. They provide a firm and tangible foundation on which to base the knowledge of Spiritualism." Although not listed as one of the top ten religions of the world, there are many who have a belief in spirit communication, even though they are not a registered member of the Spiritualist religion. The number of believers, understandably because of the fraud found in this particular discipline, is difficult to ascertain.

Peace In The Golden Dawn Community

Peace In The Golden Dawn Community Image
Brothers and Sisters of the Golden Dawn,

Greetings from Paris, France, home of the Ahathoor Temple No. 7, founded by S.L. MacGregor Mathers in 1892, the Grand Temple of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn!

Over the last week I have not had much time to observe what has been happening on the Internet, as I have been here in Paris, France, where I presided over an International Conclave of the College of the Adepti of the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega, hosted by the Ahathoor Temple No. 7, Grand Temple of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and Mother Temple of the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega.

These events hosted by Ahathoor Temple No. 7 were extremely well attended, marvelous experiences; with Golden Dawn Adepts and Initiates in attendance from France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, the UK, Spain, Sweden, Canada, and the USA. I will blog more about the Ahathoor Temple Equinox ritual and all of the other exciting events once I get back to the USA. (I will have plenty of photos to share with you from the Ahathoor Temple and events here in Paris as well).

Needless to say, I have been away from the Internet for nearly a week. Looking at the net this morning has not been a pleasant experience. The defamatory anonymous websites that have plagued the Golden Dawn community for decades have now spread to the Blogosphere. I guess this was to be expected following the olive branch offered by the HOGD/AO on the Vernal Equinox.

There are obviously forces and people that want the ENTIRE Golden Dawn community and tradition to look bad. These forces will clearly stop at nothing to stir continuing strife between the Golden Dawn orders and temples.

Two new ANONYMOUS BLOGS, one attacking Robert Zink and the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn, and another attacking the HOGD/AO and myself have appeared in the Blogosphere over the last week.

Despite EOGD's continuing harsh criticism of HOGD/AO and its leaders on the EOGD blog, the HOGD/AO and I nonetheless stand firmly by our Brothers and Sisters in the EOGD in condemning all anonymous defamation of both of our orders, whether on anonymous websites or blogs.

This continuing anonymous defamation of both our orders further underscores the need for unparalleled cooperation between Golden Dawn orders, and particularly the need for HOGD/AO and the EOGD to build better relations with each other.

The first and most difficult task before us it to build multilateral trust.

This will not be an easy task, as is evidenced by the buzz in the Blogosphere since our Vernal Equinox announcement.

For example, Morgan Drake Eckstein of Bast Temple in Denver wrote on his Gleanings From the Dawn blog:

Given the history of the Golden Dawn community, I am leery of any olive branch that is held out. For the matter, I am leery of the statement that we must never have another witch war. I would love to see the occult community get along with one another. But on the day it happens, Ha-Satan will skating to work and Hel, his Northern counterpart (sort-of), will inherit a tropical paradise. I doubt that I am alone in being paraniod. While I have yet to consult with my fellow Bast Temple members about the latest development in the Golden Dawn saga, I am sure that a vote of caution will result.Morgan: Given the history of legal actions and negative marketing between Golden Dawn orders, your caution is very wise. We are cautious as well, and frankly, many HOGD/AO Senior Adepts are so mistrustful that they advise me against pursuing the cause of peace any further. Still, the initiative to improve relations between Golden Dawn orders is very real, and has already been backed up by actions on both sides, although admittedly small ones, rather than mere words or empty posturing. Beginning at the Vernal Equinox, the HOGD/AO unilaterally took the first steps. Not only did we publish our Equinox blog message, but HOGD/AO also unilaterally took the step of refusing to approve any posts critical of any other Golden Dawn orders, temples, or leaders on our Yahoo forum. This was an important gesture of good faith on our part.

In return, HOGD/AO asked Robert Zink and the EOGD to respond in kind and no longer approve any posts critical of any other Golden Dawn orders, groups, or temples, including our own. To their great credit, all negative posts attacking our order and its leaders ceased to be approved on the EOGD Yahoo forum thereafter. This positive action by Robert Zink and the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn should not be overlooked and is to be highly and exceptionally commended.

The cessation of the publishing of posts critical of both EOGD and HOGD/AO on their mutual Yahoo fora is an extremely important step in the right direction. Indeed, history may bear witness to this was an important turning point in the history of the Golden Dawn.

Admittedly, however, this is not enough. There still remains plenty offensive and inappropriate content criticizing other Golden Dawn orders on the websites of several Golden Dawn orders or their members.

I propose that ALL of the Golden Dawn orders next move simultaneously and MULTILATERALLY to remove all objectionable content from our respective websites as well as from the websites of our members. The HOGD/AO will obviously not do this alone or unilaterally, as Senior Adepts of HOGD/AO argue that Robert Zink and the EOGD would merely use this to attempt to gain an unfair business and marketing advantage.

The mistrust of numerous of HOGD/AO's Senior Adepts has been reinforced by recent posting on the EOGD blog at golden-dawn.blogspot.com where the EOGD members continue to post weblogs critical of our order that attempt to blame everything on the HOGD/AO and myself and that do not take any responsibility for the objectionable material still remaining on the EOGD operated websites, etc.

To be quite frank with you, there are members of the HOGD/AO who caution me that I should not trust Robert Zink and EOGD at all. They argue that Robert Zink does not want peace under any circumstances. They argue that EOGD will never take down the objectionable material from the EOGD websites because Mr. Zink uses this material to gain an unfair marketing advantage by trying to scare people away from HOGD/AO. These same HOGD/AO members also argue that Robert Zink needs conflict with the HOGD/AO because he needs an enemy to unite his order.

I am certain that, in light of the above, you can understand that the HOGD/AO will obviously not remove objectionable material alone or unilaterally.

I, however, am willing to take a chance and to give Robert Zink and the EOGD the benefit of the doubt. The time has come for us to build more and more trust.

I propose that all Golden Dawn orders next move simultaneously and multilaterally to remove all objectionable content from our respective websites as well as from the websites of our members.

As I mentioned before, trust must be built. The mutual cessation of approval of hostile posts on both the EOGD and HOGD/AO Yahoo Fora has helped a lot. There is no doubt about this. However, there is a great deal more remaining to be done.

Here is material that HOGD/AO deems inappropriate and would like to see removed:

A. From EOGD websites and Yahoo fora:

1. "The Truth about the Golden Dawn and a Few Dangerous Megalomaniacs!" (http://www.esotericgoldendawn.com/tradition truthseries megalomaniacs.htm)

3. http:// www. esotericgoldendawn.com/ouro officialresponse.htm

and at:

4. http:// www. golden-dawn.org/bkrev ritualmagicmanual.htm

5. "Beware! No Sex Magick in the Golden Dawn!" (http:// www. esotericgoldendawn.com/tradition sexmagic.htm)

6. The 1432 posts remaining in the archives of the EOGD Yahoo! forum that are hostile towards HOGD/AO and its leaders.

(It should be noted that, while some of the above material does not mention our order or its leaders by name, it is clear in conjunction with anonymously published material to whom they are referring).

B. From the website operated by Open Source Order of the Golden Dawn member, Nagasiva Yronwood's website:

1. http://www.luckymojo.com/esoteric/occultism/griffinbio.txt

2. All pages from from the osogd.org site linking to the above.

C. Finally, the inappropriate page on the website operated by Aaron Leitch, member of the board of another Golden Dawn order and in clear violation of previous agreements at:

1. http://kheph777.tripod.com/rev rmm.html

In return, HOGD/AO pledges likewise to remove all objectionably perceived material from our own websites and forum on an EQUAL and QUID PRO QUO basis. I formally request that leaders of Golden Dawn orders email me at Chief.Adept@Golden-Dawn.Com to discuss what material they would like to see removed from our websites, etc.

Many HOGD/AO members believe that Robert Zink will NEVER remove the above listed objectionable material the aforementioned reasons. They even caution me against continuing this initiative, as they believe that Mr. Zink and EOGD will merely try to use even this against our order. They believe that in response to this blog, they will merely attack us again on the EOGD blog, try to justify the objectionable content on their website, and to go on blaming everything on us while refusing to take any responsibility for their own objectionable material.

I disagree.

Robert Zink and the EOGD have already gained a little of my trust by doing the right thing once. They have since the Equinox ceased all publication of hostile posts on their Yahoo forum. Therefore, against the advice of senior members of HOGD/AO, I remain willing to give Mr. Zink and the EOGD every benefit of the doubt.

The anonymously published defamatory websites and blogs attacking EOGD as well as HOGD/AO (or any other Golden Dawn order or leaders) are harming the ENTIRE Golden Dawn community and tradition.

The only way to put a stop to this nonsense once and for all is for the ENTIRE Golden Dawn community to abandon blaming one another, set aside our differences, and take a united stand against the defamation, no matter who it is directed at!

Therefore, contrary to the belief of Senior members of HOGD/AO, I do not believe that Robert Zink needs an enemy so desperately that he would rather let the entire Golden Dawn community suffer just to go on trying to DEMONIZE the HOGD/AO or myself.

In fact, I believe the opposite. I believe that EOGD and Robert Zink are serious in wanting peace. I believe that their Pow Wow initiative was serious and that they still are serious about wanting peace now. I do not believe that this was just all empty posturing from them.

I also believe that Robert Zink and the EOGD will abandon trying to blame everything on HOGD/AO and will instead help us to end the defamation in every direction.

In short, I believe that Robert Zink and the EOGD will do the right thing.

The Pact Iot The Story So Far

The Pact Iot The Story So Far Cover
In 1976 in an abandoned ammunition dump dug deep into a mountain somewhere in the Rhineland, two magicians, one English, one German announced the formation of a magical order with the celebration of a Mass of Chaos in the company of a couple of dozen other magicians. Soon after we emerged from the bowels of the mountain a localized tornado hit immediate area. This was but a small portent of things to come.

We left the mountain with no particular idea other than to form an Order such as had never existed before, that would break the existing mold and provide a vehicle for Chaos Magic. A year later some of us met in a splendid Austrian castle and formally arranged ourselves into the Magical Pact of the Illuminates of Thanateros, using as a basis a simple structure of four grades and five offices that I had devised in the meantime. Since then the Pact has evoked a veritable whirlwind of activity, and at the time of writing counts some sixteen temples in the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia and the USA. A meeting for all members is now held annually, usually at the same original castle (Burg Lockenhaus, Austria, 2.-6.August 1991 followed by an Exercitium open for all). It is always a wild experimental gathering during which plenty of hard work is being done. In devising a structure I sought mainly to avoid the mistakes of previous established orders such as the Golden Dawn and the Ordo Templi Orientis. A certain division of labor is essential just to ensure that people take responsibility for organizing that which needs organizing. Beyond that it seems an absurdity to form an order on the basis of one or a few persons adopting the role of great guru almighty. Their bluff must eventually be called, and such organizations are unlikely to advance beyond whatever set of ideas they start with. Crowley had to break with the Golden Dawn to make his own contribution to magic, and Austin Spare had to break with Crowley in his turn. Such progress through schism is an idiotic waste of time and effort. Any contemporary order which wishes to remain alive, exciting and innovative requires a structure or at least a communication network to exist at all, but dogmatic ideas, rigid hierarchies and fixed teachings and beliefs will kill its creative spirit rapidly. Thus in the Pact, the individual temples, which are its basic unit, experiment with whatever techniques, rituals and ideas they please, and exchange results and inspir-ations through newsletters, magazines, a computerized electronic mailbox system, inter-temple visits and the annual Pact meeting. There is thus a natural selection of ideas. Techniques, Spells and Rituals which are found to be really useful become used and expanded upon whilst the less effective material is forgotten. Those members who enter the Pact bubbling over with ideas are encouraged to put them into use immediately. Naturally in an organization such as this there is less emphasis on discipline than on enthusiasm and creativity. The Pact is more interested in those who can experience magic as a living thing, than in those who can merely follow instructions. Indeed the only power the Pact reserves over its members is the right of expulsion for extreme non-fraternal behavior or for bringing the Pact into danger. The Pact has but two aims. Firstly the pursuit of the Great Work of Magic and pleasures and profits attendant to this Quest. Secondly to act as a Psychohistoric Force in the Battle for the Aeon. To fulfill the first aim we provide communication facilities that enable us to work together and develop our own magics through the exchange of ideas and information. Esoterics should also be fun.

If you don't enjoy doing magic you are probably doing something wrong. The profits are entirely whatever rewards individuals can make from their own magic. There are no membership fees and the annual Pact meeting is free and funded by seminars and exercitiums that some members hold for the general public plus any members who wish to attend. The somewhat grandiosely phrased Psychohistoric action in the Battle for the Aeon, consists mainly in spreading the philosophy of magical paradigm where we can, in print and by word of mouth, although we occasionally perform acts of magic to hasten things along.

The magical techniques and philosophy of the Pact are mainly Chaoist in inspiration. Chaos Magic calls for a concentration of the actual mechanics at work when planning acts of evocation, divination, enchantment, invocation and illumination. It is techniques and intention that are important in successful magic. The most Important Techniques are those which adjust subconscious belief. Subconscious belief controls both the self or selves and the world. So long as this is never forgotten one can structure a ritual or spell with just about any form of symbolism from Tibetan Tantra to Icelandic Rune lore. And indeed, where else but in the Pact could you find magicians experimenting with Runic Sex Magic? Well perhaps you will find other examples. I notice the eclectic approach becoming ever more pervasive in esoterics. Insights and ideas are now poached shamelessly from one so-called tradition to another, but this is how it should be, and Chaos Magic boldly encourages the meta-tradition which takes anything and everything that is effective from all traditions to create an explosive mixture.

So, on with the pursuit of the Great Work of Magic, with whatever forms of Techno-Shamanism, Tantric Goetia or Greco-Egyptian Quantum Physics we can make work for us. There are worlds within us, and the universe is infinitely more weird, I'm sure, than all our theories put together. Hopefully, some of the explosives the Pact cooks up can propel us a little further into these strange domains. I have no idea how this years Pact meeting will unfold, except that there will be magicians from many lands seated in a huge circle ready to offer their specialties in everything from Buddhist sorcery through Norse wyrdcraft and Chaos mathematical investment schemes to Voodoo and Ice Magics. We have the technology and we're crazy enough to use it! (by Pete Carroll)

Magick

Magick Image

Book: Magick by Aleister Crowley

The first three sections of this work consist of Parts I-III of Aleister Crowley's Book Four. Crowley's text is given in it's entirety (the few exceptions are noted in the text), as his is the most superb introduction to the Science of Illumination written in the West. Section IV currently consists of The Book of the Law, but does not contain the full text of its history and reception included in the full edition of The Equinox of the Gods. The first four sections present a full course in Magick & Mysticism and thelemic theology; the fifth section gives an example of what experimental magick can create in the illustration of the mysteries revealed by Dr. John Dee and Edward Kelly and the medieval magick of the Solomonic grimoires (in this case the Goetia); the sixth section provides an example of a unique manifestation of New Aeonic occult theory; the seventh section provides an introduction into a specific esoteric empowerment held by a small group of adepts.

Other than those sections by Crowley (sections 1-4 and Liber Chanokh in section 5), all other material is the creation of the editor. In the body of Crowley's text, the editor's comments are designated by and are relegated to the footnotes. The only other changes to Crowley's text is the standardization of citations to the Equinox. Parts I and II of Book Four were written before the completion of the first volume, thus Crowley cites the Equinox by number only. We modified all citations to conform to Equinox volume(number) format. Footnotes are enumerated by section.

Mortadello Or The Angel Of Venice

Mortadello Or The Angel Of Venice Cover

Book: Mortadello Or The Angel Of Venice by Aleister Crowley

A play. Crowley hoped to persuade the renowned American actor and singer Paul Robeson (1898-1976) to put on a production of the play, in which Robeson would take the part of the character Orlando, 'a Negro of the Tunisian Sudan.' Robeson read the play but declined, explaining: "I'm afraid it's no use. You see, there are certain lines and gestures which the British public would not care to see enacted between a Negro and a white woman. As for the American stage, why, if I were to produce it over there, someone in the audience would get up and shoot me with a revolver!" Oddly various wild claims about the rarity of this edition have recently been bandied about the internet - with some absurd prices being asked, and the ludicrous claim that the work is 'rarer than White Stains' put forth. This is simply not so, although it is one of the less common of Crowley's early poetry and plays.

A Little More About Spells

A Little More About Spells Image
The secret to casting spells that work lies in the ancient grimoires and the magickal correspondences that were devised by the ancients for the highest magickal work. Ancient Hebrew, Egyptian, Chaldean, Zoroastorian and Babylonian magicians understood the tumultuous power contained within the natural world and they held the keys necessary to access this power. The greatest grimoire of all time - the Key of Solomon contains the magical correspondences required to draw on the power manifest in nature - this power was used by ancient magicians to alter the reality of existence. The most ancient of all grimoires - the Emerald Table of Hermes Trismegistus was also said to contain the secret to enacting change in the real world via humanities connection with the cosmos and the higher powers. It is these ancient grimoires that contain the secrets to casting spells that work.

The Star And The Garter

The Star And The Garter Cover

Book: The Star And The Garter by Aleister Crowley

Mr. Aleister Crowley's volumes succeed one another with a rapidity that almost takes one's breath away. The Star and the Garter, hitherto only accessible in a privately printed edition, is now offered to the public at the low price of one shilling. The Society for the Propagation of Religious Truth has assuredly no connection with the S.P.C.K. or kindred bodies; but, whatever its aims may be, it may be congratulated on the format of its publications. But more than wide margins and bold type are needed to make The Star and the Garter understanded of the people, which, like much of the author's verse, is symbolical and introspective. In form it bears outward semblance to Tennyson's Maud, but in spirit it is akin to the Poems and Ballads of Mr. Swinburne.
