How much about the world of wizards and witches do you know? At the Midwest's largest pagan event, the St. Louis Pagan Picnic, two leading schools will be testing the knowledge of their students and all comers, as part of the Wizards and Witches Trivia Tournament. This contest will be the first of its kind, and open to the public.
Wizards and Witches to Meet in St. Louis
Oberon Zell of Grey School and Don Lewis of Witch School have agreed to a trivia contest about all things magickal to test their students and all comers. They plan to meet on June 13th & 14th at the St. Louis Pagan Picnic, held at Tower Grove Park. The St. Louis Pagan Picnic is the largest pagan gathering in the Midwest, and brings together thousands for a weekend of friendship, fellowship, entertainment, teaching and merchants. The Wizards and Witches Trivia Tournament will be just one of the many parts to this wonderful event, but for the students of Grey School and Witch School, it is a highly anticipated one.

Okay so Midsummer/Litha is right around the corner and next to Samhain, it was one of my favorite Sabbats. Something just so magical about midsummer, even more so imo. At our home we usually do a small bonefire in a fire pit. Bbq, roast marshmellows later in the evening, and after the kids have gone to bed, us adults have a few midsummer drinks:P.
Our rituals are small but we dance around the fire and give and offering to the fae. My daughter last year made a flower chain. My husband made little cookie drops, and I made a Smoke offering ;P.
We ask that the Goddess and the Fae bless us through the rest of the year and watch over us and then we douse ourselves with fairy dust that we make. Adults and kids alike have a blast. Last year the day after we woke up to a fairy ring in our back yard. Trinity went nuts running around screaming "the fairies came the fairies came!"
Gonna share some of my midsummer recipes for the next few weeks till midsummer is upon us:P. First one os for those who cannot drink such as kids, people who can't due to medications or medical conditions or those who simply choose not to.
Midsummer Fae Tea:
Makes a decent sized pitcher
4 chamomile tea bags
3 regular black tea bags
6 Lavender flower Whole or 2 tablespoon dried lavender
Pop a coffee filter in the coffee pot, add all the ingredients and brew like you would with coffee.
Pour whole pot into pitcher and add another pitcher of cold water.
Chill and serve over ice.
Makes and awesome refreshing drink. we make it year long around here when we get the winter blues.

Yesterday's post about thinking, got me thinking about how it is that I really do feel like I'm getting a handle on this project. And I realized that I've been doing a lot of thinking about all the ways in which I already am like Aragorn. I haven't been doing very much thinking about all the ways in which I am not like him, can't measure up to him, will never be him.... etc. I also realized that this has been a general trend for me recently.
FOR EXAMPLE: Right after Thanksgiving, I received the tax bill for my property. I was, at that point 3 years past due and the bill was a whopping 1700! Well, I freaked out at first, naturally, since there was no way I was going to be able to come up with the money. And then, after I calmed down, I said to myself, "Well, I don't see any reason why that money can't just show up!" Then, I did some magic on it and pretty much let go of it. So, what did I get for Christmas? Someone I love very much surprised me with the paid receipts for those taxes! So, for the first time in 6 years I started out the year without any overdue taxes!
ANOTHER EXAMPLE: I decided that teaching classes in Magick, Reiki, Animal Communication, and doing Medicine Wheels, Shamanic Healing, Shamanic Art, and other cool stuff would be a good way to tap into my inner Aragorn. I just started thinking about doing them... now suddenly I have a place to teach Magick, a place to do most of the other stuff, a First Degree Reiki class starting in March. And I think it's because I've been thinking in terms of what I CAN do vs what I CAN'T do.
In the past, I have spent a lot of time working at positive thinking, and even more time delving deeply into negative thinking. This time, however, there seems to be a difference. When I'm thinking positively about something, it feels more relaxed, there is an inner confidence that was lacking before. And when I'm on that downward slide into trauma drama, and angsting and whining and grinding my teeth - it too feels more relaxed, and even though I might be wallowing in self pity, I'm not really taking it all that seriously.
So, I have to say that the act of presenting this project and putting it out there as a do-able thing, talking about it every day, thinking in terms of succeeding has actually had a profound effect.

I suppose it would be significant to all, although just how the effects would be perceived would depend on an individual's personal beliefs and what they are "open" to.
A solstice is a turning point; some people consider a lunar eclipse to be a good time for working on the emotions, for going deep into your own psyche to your inner and hidden aspects; the full moon is believed by some to be a good time for any spells, especially protection and divination, fertility, creativity, healing, knowledge, romance, anything positive that you need to increase; the full moon in Gemini would affect issues such as communication, writing, wit, study, healing and travel.
Based on the above information I personally feel that tonight would probably be a good time for opening the third eye, although I would do this as part of a whole chakra balancing and opening exercise.
The only experience I have had with opening the 3rd eye is as part of chakra opening and balancing exercises done before meditation, which is followed by closing of the chakras which should be done at the end of the meditation. Examples of this type of chakra opening can be found on this page of the Spheres Of Light website. You might like to try the very first meditation in the list, called "The Healing Room" to experience this.

I was cruising around on Facebook recently and came across a video list of the "Top 10 Secret Organizations" posted on Bing. Right there at #9, I found the order of which I'm an initiate, Ordo Templi Orientis. Interestingly enough, the blurb in the video is reasonably accurate, describing OTO as a "Mystical movement based on the spiritual philosophy of Thelema" with "strong connections to the occult." One could perhaps argue the meaning of "strong connections" in this context, but given the significance of Aleister Crowley's work in the general occult scene I nonetheless consider it a basically true statement.
Here's what's interesting about the OTO's inclusion - the other societies on the list. At #9, OTO is ranked higher than the Catholic organization Opus Dei despite the latter group's membership of 85,000 compared to OTO's 3-4 thousand. The rest of the list includes organizations that are legitimately powerful today, shaped historical events, and/or attract a lot of press from conspiracy theorists. Here's the rest of them:
8. The Knights Templar - Prior to the fourteenth century, served as bankers to all of medieval Europe.
7. Ku Klux Klan - Now a shadow of its former self, but once an enormous organization with millions of members.
6. Beati Paoli - I hadn't heard of this one, but apparently it is believed that some of the modern mafia groups are descended from it.
5. Majestic-12 - Researched by many and pretty much found to be bogus, this group was supposedly set up to study UFO techology and communicate with aliens.
4. Freemasons - Another group with which I'm involved, the Masons still have millions of members but are not nearly as nefarious as some claim.
3. Thule Society - Smaller that the OTO even at its height, but this German occult society had a disproportionate influence on Nazi philosophy.
2. The Illuminati - Disappeared around 1800 and fictionalized in the early 1970's by Robert Anton Wilson, this group is nonetheless apparently the sworn enemy of fundamentalist Christianity.
1. The Bilderberger Group - Small but genuinely powerful, the Bilderberger group constitutes one of the largest concentrations of financial and political resources in the world.
You can check out the video here. As they say at the Oscars, it's an honor just to be nominated. And in case you're wondering, no, the OTO does not "run the world from the shadows." It would be kind of cool if it did, though.

The elemental Spirits of Air are the Sylphs.
Mastering the element Air...
1- Make a list of the things which have the combined qualities of warmth and moistness. Practice this for one week. Be sure to record the results each day in your magickal diary.
2- Find a place where you can be alone, take a lounge chair along with you. Wear as little clothing as you can (if possible, nudity is best), and sit or lie in the chair. Begin pore breathing. This is started by doing the relaxation ritual. Next, become very aware of your breath. Become aware of the slow in and out motion of the physical air. Notice the way the air feels as it enters your body. Now imagine that your body is nothing more then a huge breathing apparatus. Imagine that every part of your body only has the function of breathing. You should do this exercise daily for one week.
3- Spend a period of up to three minutes (no more), once a day, imagining that you are the element Air. Feel the lightness, the giddiness, the warmth and moisture of Air. Feel how physical things don't seem to matter. Do this exercise for only one week, NO MORE. If you wish to do it again, only do it once a month.
4- Once you have learned to "be Air", the next step is to control the element Air. Take a moment and imagine yourself to be Air. Bring the feeling from the previous exercise into your consciousness. Next, hold your hands 9-12 inches apart, palms facing each other. Imagine a bottle or box between your hands. Now, as you exhale, visualize all of the Air element which is in you going out with your breath and into the container between your hands. Three to five breaths should be enough to fill it. Then, with three breaths, inhale it back into you and go back to normal consciousness.
THE TEST
The next time you feel heavy, slow or lazy, do this exercise. If you feel relaxed and refreshed, you have succeeded with the test AND with mastering the element Air.
