As I've mentioned briefly before, I've written a book called "Defense Against the Dark" that's coming out in the middle of March. Here's my obligatory post telling you all about it and asking that you buy it and tell all your friends to buy it. Pretty please with sugar on top? Ok, here goes.
When I first entered the world of magick and metaphysics I was delighted to find the spiritual and philosophic satisfaction that I had never found in more mainstream systems of belief. In my na"ive eagerness I dove in head first, with little thought to the strange and dangerous creatures that might be lurking beneath the surface. I learned the hard way that some old wives tales are true and that there are things that go bump in the night. At the time I had a very hard time finding information on how to deal with and protect myself against such things. Now, many experiences later, I've written the book I wish someone had handed to me all those years ago.
My book introduces the reader to the darker denizens of the magickal world and the dangers they present (yes, there are plenty of friendly creatures out there but you hardly need me to tell you how to deal with friendly creatures that want to help you - do you?). In "Defense Against the Dark "you learn the common lore surrounding malevolent creatures and malicious magick and how to deal with them should you encounter them. For each entity or magickal occurrence detailed in the book you will find information on how common they are, how dangerous, what other names it might be called, the common symptoms that give evidence of their presence, and concrete, practical methods for alleviating the danger they present. In other words, this book tells you all about things that go bump in the night and then tells you how to bump back.
Beyond stating what negative entities and magick do, this book also clarifies what they do not do. Unfortunately, the magickal world is full of misconceptions and misinformation. Common misconceptions, and how to avoid them, are included in the lore for many entries. Learn how curses actually work, that faeries aren't always nice (Red-Caps, need I say more?), and that modern vampires do exist but really aren't all that dangerous.
One of the features of the book of which I am most proud is the Index of Symptoms. There is an index in the back of the book that lists all of the common symptoms that malevolent magick and creatures create and list what might be responsible. With this tool you can readily identify the most likely magickal culprit in any situation and then just flip to that entry for information on what to do about it. However, use this with caution and don't let yourself be carried away. Just because you experience symptoms commonly caused by a goblin doesn't mean that it isn't just bad curry and lack of sleep. Most of the time there is a rational mundane explanation for what you experience. This book is for the times when the rational explanations fail.

This is a new spell that I am offering (new to the site) but one I have used for many years in custom work I have done for clients. There is root work involved but I cannot send the biological components to International clients so I have devised a way to do the same spell only in consuming those root elements during the spell in the fire that I use during the casting. Originally I had sent the herbs to domestic clients but now in the newer version, the results contain no herbs. This spell is complete, also you do not need to do anything on your end, as you may have to with other black magick spells.

THE DARK GODS

The Message of the One of Thoth
Much has been uttered - 'in shrivelled hallways untidy with the
Blackest Inventions' - concerning the entities/energies known as the Dark Gods. Hitherto, all information regarding 'They who will have
Blood' has consisted of misrepresentations and absolute rubbish.
q.v. the works of H.P. Lovecraft, who intuitively grasped vague
hints of the genuine Dark Tradition, whilst presenting it within
the context of the 'opposites' (as with 'The Necronomicon' in its
many hoax forms). Those who wish to know the Dark Gods are required to pass the Abyss - the experience of going beyond 'opposites' - to understand what these energies are in essence (i.e. they just ARE)
and to remain sane and in one piece.
From an uninitiated viewpoint, the Dark Gods are indeed the most
hideous and terrifying manifestations of the acausal on this causal plane. Due to the Nazarene Tyranny establishing evolutionary regression, very few can comprehend even the most remote hint of Chaos (or The Dark Gods) in its primal state, i.e. they do not perceive the essence hidden by appearance; they are bound by 'moral projections'. ('He is the
damned, the baser for a moral corrupt'.)
While the Dark Gods may be perceived as 'convenient abstractions'
or Archetypal Energy, they may also be regarded as having an actual existence (and it is up to the individual to decide which of these, or neither, is the correct for him/herself). The Dark Tradition,
continued by small numbers of Adepts since the Hyperborean Aeon to the present day, contains many tales of the origins of the Dark Gods.
Whether one chooses to see these as myth or mythos, is, at the end of the day, a matter of personal taste according to which viewpoint is the most magickally useful.
Previously, weakening a Star Gate (or nexion, a physical link between the causal and acausal) and bringing the Dark Gods has involved
hideous rites of sacrifice and suffering, and in terms of results, vile uncertainty principles. Refined magickal techniques (such as the Rite of Nine Angles) have replaced many of these bloody shamblings (the Blood remains, mostly in menstrual form) and the Return of the Dark Gods is now an easier proposition, both in terms of what can be done ceremonially, hermetically and how mass Consciousness can be effected by Aeonic
techniques. However, certain cases involving those who, unprepared
and otherwise, have attempted to bring the Dark Gods, have resulted in madness and/or death. Such events are always followed by the shedding of blood on a larger scale - the Darkest of negations must have sustenance.
And is bloodshed necessary anymore?
Returning the Dark Gods will fulfill the Destiny (in its dying form) of this Aeon - the Western, still about 350 years left to run - by
establishing the next Aeon, which has no word since it is Chaos itself.
This Aeonic progression has been a gradual opening of various
acausal - or magickal - centres on this terrestrial plane. It is
important to remember that there never was a 'golden age' way back when from which the human race toppled and has been trying to grovel back to ever since, armed with hints of 'lost knowledge' constituting the
various 'mysteries' (not in the Greek sense of the word) we have today.
In one one sphere of evolution, we have reached an intuitive stage - the culmination so far of the Aeonic progression - where we can decide our own destiny. For this reason, it is generally agreed that the
terrestrial centres are now exhausted - the new Aeon may very well be
'Galactic' in form (either symbolically, i.e. representing the forward looking nature of civilisation, or literally, the consequence of
the same).
Establishing a forward looking civilisation reveals the nature and
purpose of Satanism. Those (for example) qabalistic magicians who
think they are contributing towards this progression should think again.
The Return of the Dark Gods will bring torment, gnashing Darkness
and Death to some, and bounty to others. As stated, we have reached a point in consciousness to recognise that the world is up for grabs.
The strong will survive and the weak will perish - an obvious statement, though difficult for those bound by Nazarene morality to accept.
To invert the Established is only a starting point, a means to an end.
For most, that stage beyond may be realised in time. But for now, it is enough just to start. As Derek Farr, bastion of the film noir, so eloquently said in his early film 'Lethargy':
"It seems there is no finer point
Than that which is lodged with the cranial index
of a dying priest."

A lot of people have some strange ideas about magick. One of the most common ideas is that magick is a way of getting what you want. In a way that's true; casting a spell is an act of determining a goal, focusing your intent, and then throwing that intent out into the world to manifest itself. Yes, you can use magick to help you get what you want, but in my experience "want" is only half the picture.
My path is a rough one and my Goddess is harsh - she frowns on wasting magick on the superfluous. Does that mean I don't do magick to help me find a parking spot downtown? Hell no. I do plenty of frivolous magick, but I'm not going to bother my Goddess with it. When I do little spells to make my life easier I use my personal energy and the energy of the world around me. Sometimes these spells work and sometimes they don't; it depends on what other energies my will has to overcome, how focused my energies were, etc. When I want something but don't really need it I'm on my own for making it happen.
When I really need something - that's a different story entirely. When I have a genuine need I can ask my Goddess to give me a boost that almost always guarantees success. The tricky part is knowing what you really need in order to ask for it. For example, I was unemployed for over a year when I got out of law school and I desperately needed a job. Unfortunately, I graduated a year into the recession and jobs were thin on the ground for even the best students (which I was not). If ever there was a time that I needed every iota of energy on my side at was during that job hunt, so I did several spells to help me find employment. At first I did spells to help me find "the perfect job," the job that would pay my bills, make me feel good about myself, have a positive work environment, and have room to grow. This was what I wanted, but who actually manages to find a job like that right out of school with no experience. Unsurprisingly, those first spells didn't work too well. Then I started doing spells to help me find a "decent" associate position that would pay my bills and at least offer some challenges day to day. If those jobs were out these, they didn't find me. Finally, I just did a spell to find any job that would keep me from defaulting on my student loans and credit card bills, whether it was an attorney job or not. I got a job within a week. What I "needed" was to learn to swallow my pride and take what was actually available. Magick done to fill a need is the most potent magick anyone can do.
How do you know what you really need? The best way I've ever found to identify what you really need is the mediator's trick of asking why. Think of something you want, now ask yourself why you want it, then ask yourself why you want that reason, do this over and over until you finally find the real reason for your desire - that's the need, and if it's not a need then you probably shouldn't be doing magick for it. For example, I want an iPhone, why? - they're cool, why do I want something cool? - it's fun and would make me feel less behind the times, why is that important? - it gives me self-esteem, why do I want that? - self-esteem feels good, so what I want is to feel good. Do I "need" an iPhone to feel good, no - so no iPhone spell. However, I can do a spell to help me to know what I need to do so that I can feel proud of myself and have better self-esteem and then do it. Could that kind of spell lead to an iPhone, possibly, but it will likely lead to something much better than a nifty toy that will be obsolete in a year.
Doing magick for what you need, rather than just to do or get the things that you think might fill your needs is both more effective and can open you to possibilities that you'd never thought of. There is one caveat to doing this sort of magick: occasionally, what you really need is a swift kick in the ass. Is it what you want? No. Will you probably be better off for it? Yes. Be open to what you really need and your magick will help you more than you can imagine, just accept that what you need isn't always what you want.

The Thoth Tarot Deck was a tarot deck developed by the English occultist Aleister Crowley and illustrated on his instructions by Lady Frieda Harris. Aleister Crowley called the Thoth tarot deck, the book of Thoth and claimed that the deck reflected the wisdom of the ancient Egyptian book of Thoth. The tarot card descriptions found on the Thoth Tarot deck are different in symbolism and imagery compared to other standard tarot card decks.
Thoth is considered one of the most important deities of the ancient Egyptian pantheon. He is known as the God with the head of an ibis. He is the heart and tongue of the all-powerful Egyptian Sun God Ra. He translated the will of Ra into speech and is the divine communicator of Egyptian mythology. He was the scribe of the Gods and was called the God of Writing. The book of Thoth is used for divination through tarot cards. The tarot card descriptions on the Thoth deck are reflections of the great knowledge of the ancient Egyptians.
A cult of Thoth grew during the last years of the Egyptian civilization who claimed to predict the future through occult divination. Aleister Crowley claims that the Thoth tarot deck developed by him was based on the tarot card descriptions followed by the cult of Thoth. He developed the deck between 1938 and 1943. He commissioned Lady Frieda Harris to illustrate the deck based on his visions and based on the ancient Egyptian book of Thoth papyrus by Jasnow and Zauzich. It took five years to develop the deck because Crowley wanted the images to reflect different disciplines including science and philosophy.
The tarot card descriptions in the Crowley Thoth tarot deck are different from the Rider Waite and other standard tarot card decks. The Major Arcana or trump cards are 21 in number and consist of the fool, the Magician or Magus, the high Priestess, the Emperor, the Empress, the Hierophant, the lovers, the chariot, Adjustment, the hermit, the wheel of fortune, lust, the hanged man, death, art, devil, tower, star, moon, sun, aeon and the universe. Court cards in the Thoth minor Arcana deck are the prince, the princess, queen and the knight. While the suite of cups, disks, swords and wands remain the same, they are illustrated with an Egyptian hieroglyphic style. The pips of the minor Arcana in the Thoth deck relate to the signs of the zodiac with the aces depicting the root of the element they represent. Each pip card in each suite has an attribute.
The wand suite relates to the fire signs of the zodiac. The ace represents the root of the fire element 2 dominions, 3 virtues, 4 completion, 5 strife, 6 victory, 7valor, 8 swiftness, 9 strength and 10 oppression.
The cup suite represents the water signs of the zodiac. The ace represents the root of the water element, 2 love,3 abundance, 4 luxury, 5 disappointment, 6 pleasure, 7 debauchery, 8 indolence, 9 happiness and 10 safety.
The sword suite represents the air signs of the zodiac. The ace represents the root of the air element 2 peace, 3 sorrow, 4 truces, 5 defeats, 6 science, 7 futility, 8 interference, 9 cruelty and 10 ruin.
The disks suite represents the earth signs of the zodiac. The ace is the root of the earth element, 2 change, 3 work, 4 power, 5 worry, 6 success, 7 failure, 8 prudence, 9 gain and 10 wealth.
The Thoth tarot deck reflects the tarot card descriptions that formed the visions of Aleister Crowley on a visit to Egypt. Many diviners have found great merit in predicting the future using the Thoth Tarot deck.
